If you’re looking to update your partywear without spending too many pennies over the festive season, then you may be wise to simply update your shoe collection rather than go to the expense of buying a brand new dress!
Leopard print is still a popular staple style this season, especially when applied to accessories, and these peep toes from Tesco are just £10 and a real bargain.
What’s more they are glam enough for a night out but also provide a staple item for daywear too, so unlike most party pieces you’ll get lots more wear from this investment than just the one night.

If you’ve seen the new Christmas M&S advert, you may like me, rather fancy the look of the cute knitted pom pom socks which Noemie Lenoir sports towards the end of the ad (whilst flitting down the stairs, icecream tub in hand).
I am already planning what I’ll be wearing on Christmas Day and as comfort is top of my list I’ll be sure to bag a pair of these babies!
These knee high socks look super soft and will be perfect for keeping toes warm cosy all day.
What’s more I’ll get loads of wear out of them besides – apart from nesting in the home they’ll look great tucked into wellies too. You can pick up yours from M&S for just £8!

Skirts are often over looked for a traditional dress, but they’re often a cheaper alternative, as you can pair them up with wardrobe staples you’ve already got. This ASOS Harlequin Full Skirt is perfect for more casual social events, it’ll keep you looking effortlessly smart but not over the top. The harlequin print has been big this season, tying in with the circus theme. The metallic finish and lining make the skirt flare out into a cute bell shape and it sits just above the knee.
The bright jewel colours bang on trend this season, and to make them stand out all you need do is team the skirt up with some black tights and black on top. A vest would work well, with a cardy over the top, or a black jumper tucked in. Team it with some patent courts for an evening look, or pumps or brogues to wear during the day.
You can get the Harlequin Skirt for £35 from ASOS now.

We all know how much we love to receive a gorgeous set of Lingerie in our Christmas stocking and at Lingerieplease we have put together a men’s gift guide to point your partners in the right direction.
The number 1 thing men get wrong when it comes to lingerie is size… how can you guess what size your girlfriend is? Our top tip is to casually leave hints around e.g. leave your bra in the bathroom with the label clearly shown or circle you size in a catalogue.
At Christmas men are always drawn to the sexiest garments around… think crotchless, red and see through which would be suitable only on a street corner.
We have come to your rescue with a simple step by step guide ensuring you get a beautiful present which is the right size, shape and colour.
Send him this link to our men’s gift guide at www.lingerieplease.co.uk
Remember its the subtle hints that count… yes you may need to leave post it notes everywhere if he doesn’t take the hint!

On the subject of fabulous festive shoes, I have to make mention of these super sultry red satin pumps from Charlotte Olympia. These 6 inch heels sit on a 1.5 inch platform and have all the drama in the world!
The height and pointed toe give them an unspoken attitude, yet the pleated ruffles adorning each heel provide a flirtatious and soft allure needed to keep these bad boys in check!
As net-a-porter quite rightly put it , you need to ‘dress from the feet upwards with these,’ so with all the focus landing at your feet go for something understated and sleek to match.
You can pick these up from Net-a-porter for £395.

Karen Millen has really pulled out all the stops with their eveningwear collection this season, and if you are looking for a fab frock and have a goodly sized budget (dresses are around the £180 mark), then it’s worth a good look. No dress however can get away without a fabulous pair of shoes, and these are a seriously fit for festive merriment!
I love the side on feather detailing and the all important black satin material. If budget is an issue I would be tempted to just throw on last years LBD and invest in these instead. At £120 they are a little steep, but if you buy them from ASOS this week you can get 20% off* and nab them for £96!
*The 20% discount applies to selected brand items so could get your Christmas party outfit sorted this week and pick up a bargain in the process!

I love this sequin cropped tux jacket from ASOS which unlike most other evening jackets on the high street, doesn’t swamp the frock underneath it. Leather and sequin bombers look great and long cocktail coats can be beautiful but few allow your dress to get a look in like this one will.
What’s more this jacket is so versatile, not only can you wear it over your party frock you can also use to dress up casual looks and give some sparkle to jeans and a tee – just be sure to don some killer heels too.
You can pick this jacket up for £45 from ASOS.

For the ultimate glitzy party frock check out this sequin embellished tiered mini dress from ASOS Luxe. Best viewed via their ‘Catwalk tool,’ the sequin stripe and ruffle tiers seriously shimmer and sparkle on the wearer. Perfect for New Years or Christmas Parties this is a really fun frock.
The dress features a bandeau design with a boned corset and full skirt. To keep the look streamlined, team with silver sparkly sequin shoes and a clutch. You can pick this up in black or a silvery grey colour with pearlescent sequins for £90 from ASOS.

If you’re looking for a change from a boring plain T-shirt or vest to pair with jeans at the weekend, the check out this Abstract print T-shirt from See by Chloé.
The great print detailing features hot air balloons, rockets, clouds and rabbits in a mix of colour and black and white. It’s even got two swallows on the back. You can team it with any kind of jeans and a long cardy for a casual but quirky weekend look, or tuck it into a high-waisted skirt for a slightly smarter look. You could wear it over a long sleeved top to keep away the winter chill.
At £50 it’s on the expensive side, especially for a T-shirt, but being Chloé, you’re guaranteed good quality, and this versatile shirt would be a great addition to your weekend wardrobe. You can get it from Net A Porter now.
