Great Trend-Ticking Dress for Summer

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

ASOS Ra-Ra DressThis is a great little dress for the summer! It hits the eighties revival trend with it’s ra-ra tiered skirt, and the stone wash denim trend with it’s bodice, so ticks lots of boxes and is really cute looking too!

The sweetheart neckline adds to its girly appeal and I love ASOS’s styling suggestion of teaming it with sandals by day and rope wedges at night.

At £38 it’s not bad – most likely cheaper than a top and skirt put together!

You can pick one up over at ASOS by following this link.

All Saints Dabble With Colour

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

All Saints Leila DressAll Saints are known for their neutral colours – beiges, gun metals and blacks and whites give their stores that industrial feel. However, as summer approaches, they’re branching out and introducing a few splashes of colour across their range.

This Leila Dress is a more subtle take on this season’s bright coral trend, with a more faded, washed-out version of the shade. It’s made of 100% cotton – the perfect summer dress material, but the scalloped edging along the bottom and embroidery detail around the straps mean it can be dress up or down, striking the perfect balance. It’s also got a racer-back and, in true All Saints fashion, an exposed zip.

If you’re not quite ready to branch out into summer colours though, All Saints are staying true to form, and the dress is also available in black, white, and graphite

It costs £120 and is available from All Saints in store and online now.

Ballerina Chic

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

ACNE Ballerina PumpsFollowing the soft make-up colours and chiffons that sashayed down the S/S 09 catwalk, another micro trend set to be popular this summer is Ballet Chic.

This trend can be easily achieved through the use of muted toned dresses, wrap cardies and skirts so stick to washed out shades and for a fresh feel, team with white pieces.

To top the trend off perfectly however, you’ll need a pair of point-style ballerina pumps like these gorgeous ones from ACNE.

Available from their online store these ballet style pumps cost £190 and come in several different colours and styles.

Check them out here.

A Great Dress for the Sportswear Trend

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

M&S Silk DressSportswear will be a popular micro trend this summer and Elle Magazine has hailed this pure silk belted utility dress from M&S as one of their ‘most wanted’ items as it is so reminiscent of Stella McCartney’s sports inspired collection.

At £59 it makes the perfect investment piece for this trend and is a lot kinder on the pocket than the designer alternative!

Team with leggings or jeans for a laid back feel or with gladiator heels and a clutch for an edgy and sophisticated evening look.

You can pick it up over at M&S among their Limited Collection or online here.

Topshop Summer Essentials

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Topshop Summer EssentialsI love Topshop’s online Summer Essentials page… lots of inspiration for those summer beach holidays!

Use it as a checklist for your holiday packing or just snap up what you need.

I love their appliqué horse tote bag in coral. It’s got the seaside theme and is bright and cheery – a nice change to those corporate work bags we’ve been lugging round all winter! Plus it’s really roomy for all your beach bag goodies and costs £35.

Next on my wish list is their multi plait trim trilby hat – perfect for snoozing under whilst protecting your face form those rays. It comes in at £20.

I couldn’t step off a place without some great shades and these animal print ones will go with anything and are nice and cheap at £15.

Obviously swimwear is an essential and I just love this vintage floral bikini in blue for £25.

Lastly you need something to pack it all in and lug it about and Topshop’s animal print trolley case is perfect for the job and will stand out nicely on the carousel and will only set you back £60.

Latest Fashion Craze: The Jegging

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Topshop JeggingIf you wished your skinny jeans had a bit more give to them then the latest craze of ‘jeggings’ may be the answer!

Half jean, half legging, (ie they look like denim but the material is actually stretchy like a legging) these creatures aren’t for the faint hearted, and in my opinion are best suited to the lucky long-legged and lean ladies out there!

However, the more petite and curvaceous can defiantly get away with them if paired with long smock top and heels.

H&M have a good selection all around the £15 mark, but for something a little more special I love this pair from Topshop, they are indigo blue and cost £35.

The Perfect Pair of Boyfriend Jeans

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

J BrandBoyfriend jeans are set to be huge again this season and if you want to invest in a really great pair that will last then these blue J Brand lovelies are a good bet!

The cut on these are so good that they look great with heels or flats and are also perfect for the more curvaceous figure.

I love these baggier style jeans, and I think they are especially perfect for wearing in hot weather during the daytime… the skinnies can come out to play in the cooler evenings but for daytime its comfort all the way!

You can pick these up from Matches for £258.

Designer v Highstreet: The Floral Maxi

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

The Floral MaxiThis summer it’s all about the floral maxi, and the nature of maxi’s eliminate the need to coordinate a whole outfit and are so comfortable and breezy in the hot weather, they make it an essential summer buy for me!

I love the designer option here by Diane von Furstenberg – this is their #17 look from their spring runway show and is such a feminine, pretty ensemble but at £356 it is on the expensive size.

The Highstreet option is from Mango and is considerably cheaper at £85, especially as it is 100% silk.

Team you maxi dress with caged heels and a glam jacket to emulate the DVF look, or simply with a skinny cardy and flipflops for a laid back look.

Designer v Highstreet: Spicy Tribal Platforms

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Spicy PlatformsEveryone seems to be converting the now famous tribal python leather Spicy heels from Louis Vuitton.

All manner of celebs from Victoria Beckham to Beyonce are rocking the real things, but if the £2,040 price tag also leaves you a little dizzy, then hop over to Topshop where they have come to the rescue with these great cheaper versions.

The white snakeskin pair are £100 and come in a gorgeous chocolate brown shade too, and the red pair are £120 and are also available in a bottle green hue.

The real things can be purchased in store at Louis Vuitton.

New Exotica Style Bangles

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

ASOS Square BanglesA quick and easy way to nod towards the New Exotica trend is to arm yourself with a set of chunky wooden bangles such as these beauties.

Available from ASOS in the sale at just £6.50 for the pair (was £9.95), these square shape wooden bangles feature some great metal detailing and are perfect for adding a hint of tribal-esq jewellery to your look.

For maximum impact pair with handfuls of thin gold bangles and large gold earrings – accessorising to the max is what it’s all about.
