Pretty Frilly Swimmy

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Something SwimI love this frilly little swimming costume by Something Swim! Featuring a sweet unicorn print and frilled plunge neckline its feminine and sexy all rolled into one.

The halter tie will make the most of your cleavage and the back strap helps keep it in place and looking hot.

At £79 it is a little pricey but it’s a classic print that you could continue to pull out summer after summer.

You can buy this item over at ASOS where you can also pick up a stunning bandeau version of the same print for £59.

Designer v Highstreet: Patterned Cut-Aways

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Patterned Cut-AwaysCocktail swimsuits are going to be big again this summer (think completely impractical swim suits – with lots of ‘cut-aways’, basically the type of thing that may look stunning but have the power to give you absolutely awful tan lines).

Well, if you are into that sort of thing you may find as I’ve noticed, that they tend to mainly come in block colours like black or white and be all about maximum glamour, sexiness and exposure.

I was happily surprised then to find these two retro patterned cut out swimsuits, which make a refreshing change to the bulk of these type of swimsuits in the market right now.

The Highstreet option is from Urban Outfitters and costs £38.

The Designer verision is by Milly and costs £151.70 and is available from Net-a-porter, who suggest this swimsuit can double up as a top as well.

Designer v Highstreet: The Cut-out Swimsuit

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The Cut-out SwimsuitCut-out swimsuits are set to be even more popular this summer than they were last year. I personally can’t quite understand their allure as they are so impractical for the beach. Unless you are sitting completely in the shade you can expect to get some seriously dodgy tan marks.

I’ve heard this trend coined as ‘cocktail beachwear’ which seems to translate as another holiday activity; i.e. time must be made to sit in the shade and simply pose in your costume. Well, if you have the figure and a good book, why not, I guess!

I love the designer version which is by one of my favourite designers, Michael Kors. It features a really gorgeous cut-out necklace neckline which looks particularly stunning when you add a low v-neck kaftan to show it off even when layering up. At £140 its not too bad a price for such an esteemed label.

The highstreet option is a white shimmer paparazzi cut-out tie side swimsuit by Vitamin A. At £125 it is only a smidge cheaper than the Michael Kors designer version though. It features a shimmering gold lining, which is made visible via the side ties.

To hit the poolside chic trend perfectly, accessorise your cut-out costume with a few chunky bangles on one arm, huge shades, and sky high wedges. You can pick up the Designer version from Net-a-porter and the Highstreet option from Figleaves.

Azzaro Towelling RobeIf you have made any holiday plans for the year ahead or even what is left of this year then you may need to make room in your suitcase for this gorgeous felouque towelling cover-up by Azzaro!

Perfect for beach-wear or spa-wear it can simply be thrown over your swims for instant warmth or cover from the sun.

Made from cotton towelling and featuring a diamante embellishment along each sleeve, the oversized sleeves make the robe extremely comfortable whilst the belted waist keeps the items from looking frumpy.

The Maxi Kaftan!

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Maxi KaftanThe one holiday accessory must have has to be a kaftan, I found this stunning Diane von Furstenberg Kamea maxi kaftan and must say would look great while taking a stroll along the beach or simply relaxing sipping cocktails by the pool. The maxi length is what attracted me and adds glam in seconds, slip on over your bikini and done! It can be easily accompanied by some gold chunky bangles to bring out the tones in the embroidered neck detail, and an oversized beach bag to finish the look off!

This maxi kaftan is demi-sheer with the wide three quarter length sleeves and side slits will leave you feeling very cool and look the part! Net-a-Porter is great for finding gorgeous pieces and this one costs £363.

Bikini Belles!

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Melissa Obadash BikiniI’ve recently been hunting for the perfect summer bikini and I think I’ve found it, well two!

They both follow the same twist technique that is really appealing! The first is by Melissa Odabash, may I say firstly; a beautiful colour choice! The unusual twist detail found on both sides of the bikini bottom is what first attracted me to this bikini, also the shape is perfect for smaller busts and the ruched detail will make the bust look fuller.

The second bikini is by Shay Todd, it uses this same twist technique but this time on the bikini top, I particularly love the bottoms of this bikini they are very unique and effective. The candy pink colour is perfect for those girly girls!

Both bikini’s can be purchased online from Net a porter, the first is a Melissa Odabash Olivia halter bikini and the second a Shay Todd Twisted bandeau bikini.

The Best Bandeau

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

missoni-anacapri-bandeau.jpgIt is an important task to find the right beach wear wardrobe each summer so stocking up on bikinis, kaftans, bandeaus and smocks is the perfect place to start.

I’ve found what I can only describe as the best bandeau I’ve seen and it’s by Missoni. The turquoise metallic lurex knit mini bandeau dress provides colour and brings sparkle to the beach. The contrasting knit bust adds something fun and extra and the light colour will compliment a tan as well as body shape. It simply slips on and off so no hassles with zips and buttons.

Priced at £225 it’s an investment well worth it. Get your Missoni Anacapri bandeau dress at Net A Porter now.

Bohemian Bikini

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

marc-jacobs-clover-bikini.jpgMoving on from Shay Todd’s collection the all round amazing Marc Jacobs has designed one beautiful bohemian style multi coloured clover print bikini that is at the top of my wish list.

Florals have been a key trend this season and will no doubt continue to remain popular and this bikini successfully combines femininity and style. With a red base the vintage inspired print compliments the colouring and the double tie adds a cute little touch.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Clover bikini is available at Net-A-Porter costing just £120 which is a great price considering it’s designed by the world renowned Marc Jacobs.

Sweet & Simple In Shay Todd

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

shay-todd-twisted-bandeau.jpgIn keeping with my bikini obsession, perhaps Shay Todd’s jolly rancher bikini was a bit too bright and if you prefer paler, simple colours Shay Todd Twisted bandeau bikini may be more to your taste.

Skimpy, cute and still just as adorable as the jolly rancher this supper sassy two piece bikini is better for fair skin women but still brings out the best in every colour. The funky style of each of the pieces provides something extra when sunning yourself on the beach. Accessorize with other pinks or be a bit more eccentric and opt for bright greens. A white kaftan would look fab.

Get your Shay Todd twisted bandeau bikini at Net-A-Porter priced at £100.
