So after much searching, this Ivory Ruffle Hem Dress popped up at Debenhams. Simple, but with a beautiful ruffle detail along the bottom with gold stitching it’s got everything you need in a summer dress. It’s not too low at the front, so works well for formal occasions, and it’s lined, so has a bit of structure to it. It also ties at the back to help create a waist.

At £50 it’s probably not the cheapest dress, but it’s not bad value for money either. You can get it online or instores now.

Perfect for summer, this is a great alternative to the maxi for a statement dress, and the high street has given it a grungey, rock chick edge, so you won’t look too much like a ballerina.

Topshop have this Tutu Stud Dress – a black vest top with a layered tutu dress, cross-over straps and stud detail along the waist line. They’ve gone easy on the netting, so it’s easy to move about and sit down in. Match it with sky-scraper sandals and a leather jacket for the ultimate grunge look with a sophisticated edge. It costs £60 and is available online now.

The plunging V neckline is repeated at the back of the dress and, combined with the ruffles, gives this dress a very feminine feel. Also helping to create this, is the clever high waist design which elongates the bottom half and creates the perfect hour glass shape.

On my recent search I came across a beauty by Betty Jackson. This dusky pink strapless taffeta dress with rosette detailing could not be more appropriate and in season. Strapless dresses are everywhere right now and are so flattering. The shaply dress provides curves in the right places and the colour would look fantastic on the english rose or the sunkissed sweetheart.

Warehouse has a lovely selection. I love this Lace Embellished light brown prom dress. At £90 it’s pricey, but what you would expect when buying a dress that will make you dazzle and last forever. The strapless and full skirt style dress is flattering and stylish and will look perfect with some elegant little sandals and matching purse. Co-ordinating colours are a must!

It’s always a challenge when you shop for something you want as it’s rarely there, but, Maison Martin Margiela has the answer if what you’re looking for is something super sexy. This black sleeveless jersey dress is just the ticket. The dress plunges at both the back and front with tie detailing which leaves options for either a vest underneath or shimmering skin. Falling just above the knee it makes a chic night out. Tip: Use Benefit Kitty Glitter over your skin for all over sparkling effect and accessorize with a cute black clutch and killer heels.

There are some gorgeous garments; this dress caught my eye in particular. The Klimt Tulle dress, is stunning, flattering and one of those dresses that come with praise and envy, think about the ‘oh wow, I love your dress’ comments you’ll be thrown. The dress is £175 and so worth every penny.

Or perhaps you would prefer something a little simpler but just as elegant like the Pageant Duchess Satin dress, also flattering and costing a slightly smaller £135.
