The perfect summer dress can be an elusive thing. You want one that makes a statement, but can be worn year after year, one that’s slightly weather proof (or at least won’t blow up in the wind and won’t go streaky when it rains) and of course, it has to be white.
So after much searching, this Ivory Ruffle Hem Dress popped up at Debenhams. Simple, but with a beautiful ruffle detail along the bottom with gold stitching it’s got everything you need in a summer dress. It’s not too low at the front, so works well for formal occasions, and it’s lined, so has a bit of structure to it. It also ties at the back to help create a waist.
At £50 it’s probably not the cheapest dress, but it’s not bad value for money either. You can get it online or instores now.

Carrie on Sex and the City was doing it way before the rest of the world, but it seems the tutu is finally making it onto the high street. After the recent trend for ra-ra, tulip and bell shaped skirts, designers have taken the next step and gone for the tutu.
Perfect for summer, this is a great alternative to the maxi for a statement dress, and the high street has given it a grungey, rock chick edge, so you won’t look too much like a ballerina.
Topshop have this Tutu Stud Dress – a black vest top with a layered tutu dress, cross-over straps and stud detail along the waist line. They’ve gone easy on the netting, so it’s easy to move about and sit down in. Match it with sky-scraper sandals and a leather jacket for the ultimate grunge look with a sophisticated edge. It costs £60 and is available online now.

With ruffles and satin jewel tones at the top of the style stakes for eveningwear, this is a great cocktail frock to treat your self with.
The plunging V neckline is repeated at the back of the dress and, combined with the ruffles, gives this dress a very feminine feel. Also helping to create this, is the clever high waist design which elongates the bottom half and creates the perfect hour glass shape.
I love this dress and if you do too you can pick yours up for £179 from Arrogant Cat over at ASOS.

Even if you don’t have a prom to go to (and most of us probably don’t), that doesn’t mean you can’t buy the dress. Prom dresses are everywhere, from high street to designer, and they’re great to slip on for a night out. Uncomplicated but effective, these dresses transform you into a prom queen in with one easy zip.
This Miu Miu Bustier prom dress has everything – the perfect strapless shape, a full skirt and this seasons hottest detail – a big bow. In classic black this dress can be accessorised with the perfect partner of every black dress, diamonds. Slip on some black tights if it’s a bit chilly, and some killer heels. Or, if you want to be cutting edge and on trend, invest in some peep-toe ankle boots.
With a price tag of £1,085, this is definitely the upper end of the scale, but you’re guaranteed a well-made, built to last garment that will fit you like a glove. Available at Net-a-Porter.

Oh Yes, Prom is just around the corner, which means but two things. Number 1; it’s the beginning of the summer (woohoo, yippee, hurrah), and number 2; what on earth shall I wear?? Luckily, Betsey Johnson had the answer a long time ago at the Spring/Summer 08 Catwalk. Accessories have transformed this pretty prom dress into a chic and edgy ensemble. Dressing for a dance is not as it used to be. It’s no longer about finding that one amazing dress but finding that one amazing dress and matching it with those amazing accessories! Don’t risk turning up and blending into the sea of well dressed pretty girls, but add your own twist with a leopard print cardy, metallic shoulder strap bag, hair accessory a la Carrie Bradshaw and top it all off with of-the-minute coloured sheers!
Start ordering now with sheers from Tightsplease (plus it’s free delivery!)

Prom season is arriving and that beautiful dress should be at the top of your shopping list. Why? Because every girl wants to shine at their prom. The average prom would be held to celebrate the end of school or college however its not just the prom attendees who are in need of the perfect dress. Balls, galas, dinners and parties are always popping up in the social diary.
On my recent search I came across a beauty by Betty Jackson. This dusky pink strapless taffeta dress with rosette detailing could not be more appropriate and in season. Strapless dresses are everywhere right now and are so flattering. The shaply dress provides curves in the right places and the colour would look fantastic on the english rose or the sunkissed sweetheart.
The Betty Jackson strapless taffetta dress is available at My Warbrobe online, priced at £343.

Prom season is coming up and in true support many of the high street stores are prepared with some gorgeous dresses suited for all. I know not everyone has a prom but any sort of glamorous occasion will be the perfect place to show off a prom dress.
Warehouse has a lovely selection. I love this Lace Embellished light brown prom dress. At £90 it’s pricey, but what you would expect when buying a dress that will make you dazzle and last forever. The strapless and full skirt style dress is flattering and stylish and will look perfect with some elegant little sandals and matching purse. Co-ordinating colours are a must!

It’s always a challenge when you shop for something you want as it’s rarely there, but, Maison Martin Margiela has the answer if what you’re looking for is something super sexy. This black sleeveless jersey dress is just the ticket. The dress plunges at both the back and front with tie detailing which leaves options for either a vest underneath or shimmering skin. Falling just above the knee it makes a chic night out. Tip: Use Benefit Kitty Glitter over your skin for all over sparkling effect and accessorize with a cute black clutch and killer heels.

Its no surprise that Coast have some of the most fabulous evening dresses available so why not invest in one this year for those Christmas balls or New Years Eve celebrations.
There are some gorgeous garments; this dress caught my eye in particular. The Klimt Tulle dress, is stunning, flattering and one of those dresses that come with praise and envy, think about the ‘oh wow, I love your dress’ comments you’ll be thrown. The dress is £175 and so worth every penny.
Or perhaps you would prefer something a little simpler but just as elegant like the Pageant Duchess Satin dress, also flattering and costing a slightly smaller £135.

The designer label Gina has always produced the most delicate, glitzy and glamorous sandals and this fall is no exception. The sky high collection is very in season and it appears that over time heels are getting higher and higher.

I love Spice (above), the Swarovski indented ‘jet’ diamante and black patent sandals. They are stunning and are priced at £415.00 or take Rox, the gold, Swarovski ‘golden’ diamante encrusted, signature style sandals priced at £435.00 (below).

Or perhaps you would prefer these Campari shoes below, another signature style sandal, with “hand woven” Swarovski ‘Crystal’ diamantes in silver priced at £425.00.

To view more of this falls collection or to purchase any of these beautiful creations visit www.gina.com and click to shop.
