Love it or hate it, leather is one of the trends we’ll be seeing a lot of come winter. When done badly, leather has the potential to go hideously wrong, but done well it can look classy, sophistcated and tough.
For a statement leather piece, Topshop have this great Stud Leather Dress. It’s black leather with gold studs for extra toughness. The low cut back means it’s more of a body con shape, so it won’t restrict movement and can be worn over a top to give a more casual look.
For a smarter look, team it with gold accessories to highlight the gold studs, and some chunky heels or boots. It would also look great with a pair of lace tights.
It costs £100 and is available from Topshop now.

A new film about fashion royalty Coco Chanel is set to hit cinemas this Friday. Coco Before Chanel looks at the life of the icon before she launched the Chanel brand.
Whilst we’d all like to own a piece of Chanel, the £1000 + price tag for most of their items makes it no more than a fashion fantasy for most of us. However, with such simple, classic styles it’s easy to recreate the look at a fraction of the price.
The key to the look is simple, understated, and most importantly, monochrome. A pair of black and white ballet pumps have been seen in Chanel collections for decades. Pretty Ballerinas have this great square-toed, quilted pair, that come in a beige/cream colour with a black trim. They cost £145 and you can get them here or in their store in Mayfair, London.
ASOS have this Contrast Jersey Longline Cardigan which will add a touch of Chanel to any outfit. Complete with signature gold trim buttons, it can be worn with a casual weekend look or over an evening outfit. It costs £22.

It’s also got pocket detailing and a nipped in elasticated waistband. Gold accessories would match perfectly, highlighting the buttons.
So how much will this versatile number set you back? Only a mere £14.99, so snap it up quick sharp!

The perfect summer dress can be an elusive thing. You want one that makes a statement, but can be worn year after year, one that’s slightly weather proof (or at least won’t blow up in the wind and won’t go streaky when it rains) and of course, it has to be white.
So after much searching, this Ivory Ruffle Hem Dress popped up at Debenhams. Simple, but with a beautiful ruffle detail along the bottom with gold stitching it’s got everything you need in a summer dress. It’s not too low at the front, so works well for formal occasions, and it’s lined, so has a bit of structure to it. It also ties at the back to help create a waist.
At £50 it’s probably not the cheapest dress, but it’s not bad value for money either. You can get it online or instores now.

There’s one trend that seems to be dividing the fashion world at the moment – the crop top. As part of the 80s revival, the top we thought had gone out with the Spice Girls is back, and slowly infiltrating the high street.
Personally I reckon if you’ve got the stomach for it (literally), then give it a go. If you’re looking to fully the 80s look then team it with acid or stone wash skinny jeans and heels for a quirky night time look, or if you want a twist on a summer day look, then try it will a floaty skirt. A crop top would also work well over a body con vest dress to add a splash of colour or texture, or with a body con skirt.
Topshop have got a great range of crop tops. The Sequin Zebra Crop Vest Top on the left would be a perfect statement top paired with jeans, and the loose fitting means you won’t need to put in too many hours at the gym. The racer back adds detail and makes it nice and airy for hot days, and animal prints and motifs have been huge this summer, as have sequins. It costs £16.
If you want to keep it traditional, then there’s the Crop Crew Tee. It’s a classic square T-Shirt shape, just slightly shorter. You can wear this with high waisted jeans or shorts if you don’t fancy bearing all. It’s available in black, as in the picture, or white, nude or light grey. It costs £10.

Bags have been a bit overlooked this season, in favour of statement sky high shoes, but they’re still an essential accessory for finishing that summer outfit.
A spacious day time bag is a must, whether you’re round town or at the beach, you don’t want to be cramming everything in to a tiny bag. This Marks and Spencer Chain Straw Weave Shopping Bag on the right, has a great summer feel, and the chain detail gives is a sophisticated edge. Perfect for getting everything in and out of, and the light, natural colour will match anything. It costs £25 and is available now.
For the evening, the clutch is still the number one bag to be seen with, and this Half Moon Clutch from ASOS is incorporates lots of summer trends, including nude colours, a hard casing and a shell motif. there’s a strap in case you don’t trust yourself to hang on to it, and it’s also got a vintage feel to it. It costs £22 and you can get it from ASOS now.

If you are after a great little colour block dress then look no further than these options here. On the left we have the Designer pick – which is Alexander Wang’s fitted stretch dress in Cerulean. At $795 it is a pretty reasonable price for a Designer dress, however our Highstreet option is a real steal coming in at just £35.
Both dresses sport the body-con trend as well as the popular colour blocking and would look great with peep toe ankle boots for an edgy, sophisticated look.
You can pick up the Alexander Wang dress from Forward Forward and the Highstreet frock is available online over at Goddiva!

Marks and Spencer is celebrating 125 years of trading, and they’ve released a special vintage inspired collection charting styles and fashions over the last 125 years.
There are a selection of dresses each inspired by a different decade, and given a modern twist to bring them up to date. This 60s inspired shift dress is definitely one of my favourites, and balances old with new perfectly. The shift shape is timeless, and the mini-dress is perfect for this season;s short hem lines trend. The reflective mirror detailing is most definitely eye-catching, and the loose fit is perfect for summer. Team it with leggings and ballet pumps for a daytime look, or add heels and a clutch for the evening. To fully embrace the 60s look, go for some big earrings, big hair, and dark eye makeup with light pink lipstick.
The 60s Inspired Mirror Mini Dress is available now for £49.50, and remember to check out the rest of the collection for some great pieces.

I absolutely adore this sequin frock by Rachel Gilbert. Striking and a head turner the bows, sequins and sheer accents all gain top trend-ticking marks.
The sweetheart neckline gives it a young and fun feel whilst the full-on show of sequins and 100% silk material ensures it creates a super-luxe impression.
Perfect for summer parties and for birthday girls it’s a real show stopper. Team with sky high heels and keep accessories to a minimum to ensure the dress delivers maximum impact.
Available form Net-a-porter it costs £370.
