Couture Couture Shift DressFancy treating yourself to something special? Of course you do! Check out ‘Couture Couture’s’ gorgeous collection on Stylefinder.

Extremely dainty and femine; this collection is definately for those girly girls! With a very neutral colour pallette Couture Couture is all about embellishment and texture!
This dress is a beautiful modern day interpretation of a typical 60’s shift dress, I can just imagine style icon Twiggy wearing this with some cute little pumps! A classic shape beautifully embroidered for that extra special look (and price!)

Yes this one doesn’t come cheap at £3,370 this little lovely may only make it on your wishlist rather than into your wardrobe! But there is always hope and after all Christmas is just around the corner!

'The Golden Age'

The Golden AgeAnyone who loves couture and wants to find out more about an era that saw the rise of the couture houses into the huge global brands we know and love today; I’ve got the perfect exhibition for you!

Victoria and Albert museum, London is the venue for this fantastic new exhibition. It starts on the 22nd of September and finishes on the 6th January so theres no excuses, you’ve got plenty of time to plan a visit!

The exhibition is called ‘The Golden Age of Couture’ and looks at an important decade in fashion from 1947-57 which saw the launch of Christian Dior’s New Look. It was the start of a new era, the war was finally over and dress making was at its finest. In Paris, couture houses flourished whilst London grew many exquisite tailors such as Hardy Ameis. The exhibition shows how important couture was to the fragile economies of France and Britain after the war. I think this exhibition will be really interesting, I can’t wait to see all the stunning gowns from the likes of Balenciaga, Dior and Givenchy!

Gaultier's Couture Collection

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Jean Paul GaultierI always like to know what’s going on in the couture world as I find it really refreshing to see designers go wild without having any restrictions! This time I have looked at the one and only Jean Paul Gaultier, who has taken inspiration from princely attire with a breath taking section on the princes of India.

There is so much going on in this collection, I don’t know where to start! From heavily fringed epaulettes on silk shirts to elaborate embroidered velvet jackets mixed in with jewelled turbans and zebra print tunics with snakeskin jodhpurs! It all sounds like a complete mish mash but the whole collection is really stunning with lots of intricate detail.

The headwear is really unusual, mostly crowns and turbans, however some of the crowns are actually constructed from the models hair! It is pretty amazing but I would hate to be the model unlucky enough to have a crown attached to her head, I’m sure that will take a lot of work to get out! Ouch!
