Bargain Alert at All Saints!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

All Saints Top PicksIf like me, you’ve been eyeing up all that All Saints have to offer this season, then it may be worth paying one of their stores a visit or having a little peruse online, as until 30th November (Sunday) they are offering 20% selected items!

My top picks are these three gorgeous items:

Firstly, you can pick up a great leather item such as this fringed gillet, which is perfect for so many trends this season. Ordinarily £350 you can pick this up for just £280 if you pick it up before the end of the week!

Secondly you could invest in some great denim. These indigo low rise skinnies feature zip fastenings at the hem to follow for a skinnier fit. Normally £55, these can be nabbed for £44.

Lastly a great trench is a must-have for any wardrobe and I love this double breasted draped version. It features concealed flap pockets and is waterproof and is a classic item that will last and last. You’d usually have to pay £250 but for this limited time can snap it up for £200.

Perfect Party Jacket

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

ASOS Sequin Tux JacketI love this sequin cropped tux jacket from ASOS which unlike most other evening jackets on the high street, doesn’t swamp the frock underneath it. Leather and sequin bombers look great and long cocktail coats can be beautiful but few allow your dress to get a look in like this one will.

What’s more this jacket is so versatile, not only can you wear it over your party frock you can also use to dress up casual looks and give some sparkle to jeans and a tee – just be sure to don some killer heels too.

You can pick this jacket up for £45 from ASOS.

The Boyfriend Coat

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Zip Front Cocoon CoatMannish style coats are hot this season and this happens to be one of my favourites. This heavy wool mix cocoon style coat is perfect for keeping out the cold and looking stylish too.

I love the detailing on this coat –from the oversized collar (which can be worn up and secured in place with a popper to create a cosy funnel neck) to the array of front popper pockets and stud detail.

This coat makes a welcome change to the restricting smart belted type coats that are great for weekday work-wear, but for the weekend I like to have something more versatile and cosy to fall back on.

This coat is available from ASOS for just £65.

Cute Coat

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Caped Shoulder CoatIf you love the current military and feminine trends for your outerwear then this is one coat that roles both trends into one and may be your kind of thing. This caped shoulder coat from ASOS is half military, half feminine, and somehow it pulls off both of these trends seamlessly.

The mini cape type shoulder detailing echo the super hero trend and has a military feel especially when viewed from the back. Yet, the layering and gathering around the panelled waist area also make the coat feel really feminine and girly.

The Peter Pan collar also add a playful feel to the overall look making this coat a real jumble of trends yet some how I think it works. You can pick yours up from ASOS for £70 and it is available in kahki and black.

Great Winter Coat

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Long Wool Blend CoatI love this Diane von Furstenberg Long wool blend coat. The large brass buttons give the coat a military feel and the long length and high collar are great for keeping out the cold.

The buttons at the waist are great for pulling everything in and defining the silhouette, likewise a belt over the top would do the trick nicely.

Wear over pretty much anything, or for the country rural chic look layer over a floaty white dress or for a more wearable look, wear over a white Victoriana ruffle style blouse, teamed with skinnies and towering heels.

Get your coat from Net-a-porter for £645.

Designer v Highstreet: The Sequin Bomber

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Marc by Marc Jacobs Sequin BomberSequins are obviously very popular right now and what better way add a little glamour to your repertoire than with a sequin bomber? They seem to be everywhere at the moment and these are my top picks for both Designer and Highstreet options.

The Designer offering is a Marc by Marc Jacobs Etta sequin cardigan and features an exposed zip and demi-sheer material and three quarter length sleeves. You can pick it up over at Net-a-porter for £415.

The Highstreet alternative is a great little number from Primark. For just £15 this provides a funnel neck, exposed zip, sequin hem and short sleeves.

The sequin bomber is very cute and great for slinging over a party frock or for just wearing for drinks over a vintage graphic tee, skinnies and killer heels to bring a little sparkle to an edgy look.

Olsen Plaid Coat

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Elizabeth and James Plaid CoatI love the Olsen Twin’s label Elizabeth and James, and now available over at Net-a-porter is this gorgeous plaid coat from their collection. Typical of their style, this could easily have fallen out of one of their closets.

You could team it as they would, with super skinny jeans, towering heels and an oversized clutch, however, this is such a versatile piece it could be chucked over just about anything.

The coat features pockets on each hip, and the contrast ribbed sleeves and hidden magnetic fastening at the neck make sure this coat keeps you cosy.

Blazer's are Back!

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Smythe BlazerThe Spring Summer 09 collections have been paraded on catwalks all over the world and a key trend that is prevalent throughout is the blazer. Gone are the days when the blazer is just for power women and stuffy old men – the blazer is back with a twist. With contrast silk lapels, turn up sleeves and tapered side panels, the blazer is more than just a jacket – it’s now a statement piece. And this gorgeous herringbone wool blazer from Smythe is no exception.

This feminine and sexy piece can be teamed with absolutely anything. It’s perfect to wear with a dress for any occasion, with tapered trousers for the office and it will also look great with a simple tee and jeans for a low key look.

The Smythe Holiday boyfriend blazer is available from Net-a-porter at £470.

Wrap Up with a Bow

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Dorothy Perkins CoatDorothy Perkins does often have a stigma attached to it, fussy and dated with old women browsing the aisles. But with Gok now on board the high street store really upping its game and showcasing some great pieces – and this bow neck coat is no exception.

Bows are big this season and this gorgeous coat is bang on trend and a bargain at only £75.00. With intricate detail and tapered sides this coat is a definite statement piece. The colour is stunning and the shape of the piece will leave you feeling feminine and elegant – so much so you won’t be able to wait for winter to come!

Order yours from Dorothy Perkins now.

Chunky Knits

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Chunky Knit Long CardyI really like this taupe wool chunky knit long cardy and belt combo by Malene Birger. Quite often I find, chunky knits can look a bit young and a bit too unkempt. However, this offering is really stylish and neat and could be used for so many different looks and occasions.

For a start I think it’s smart enough for an office look – combined with a smart white shirt, killer heels and harem style trousers it would be powerful and stylish (and secretly nice and cosy). Yet it is perfect for weekend-wear too – thrown over skinnies and a black white tee it can do comfy and casual whilst still feeling gown up and polished or wrap around a floaty dress you can still get some wear out of your tea dresses and stay warm at the same time.

Get your By Malene Birger Trisian cardigan from Net-a-porter for £220.
