Stella McCartney has been one of the most talked about names this season, with her new collections enchanting everyone in the fashion industry.
All this week on Net A Porter there’s been an exclusive capsule collection by Stella McCartney, accompanied by a film. The first two collections, ‘Magnolia Tree’ and ‘Poem’ are available now, with ‘Island’ and ‘Kite’s arriving today and tomorrow. ‘Magnolia Tree’ is a smart collection, with pieces perfect for work wear and evening wear, including a jumpsuit and a bustier dress. ‘Poem’ is more of a casual collection, with tailored trousers and shorts and cute wedges with a cloud print detail.
There are four key looks in each collection, and the items can be mixed and matched. All the items are in this season’s key colours of white, nude and honeydew.
If you fancy owning a piece of this exclusive collection then head over to Net A Porter now.

Looking ahead to the summer, I’m already planning my potential beachwear and holiday wardrobe in the hope I’ll get to jet off somewhere hot.
The first thing on my wish-list is this cutwork cover up – great for throwing over a cocktail swimsuit by day, and would also look great as an evening cover up over a simple sundress when the sun goes down.
It also has potential for everyday wear too, layering over a lemon vest and stone wash skinnies offers an effortless chic look.
You can pick this item up from River Island for £24.99.

Balmain has quickly turned into one of the hottest labels right now, and no wardrobe is truly complete without their leather military jacket.
Perfect for toughening up pretty summer frocks and chucked over skinnies and graphic tees it can do no wrong in my eyes!
The accentuated shoulder this item features, is a key trend this season and screams attitute, giving a very strong look to whatever you pair it with.
With £4050 price tag it’s an investment piece, check it out over at Net-a-porter.

With warmer weather hopefully on it’s way, it’s time for the key transitional piece, the spring jacket. When it’s too warm for a winter coat, but not quite warm enough just to brave it with a cardigan or jumper.
If you’re feeling flush, then check out Diane von Furstenberg’s Zaria sequined jacket, costing £858. Capturing loads of this season’s key trends – florals, nude colours, a tie neck, and sequins, this jacket is perfect for day or night. Slip it over jeans and a casual top during the day, or wear it over a LBD for a splash of colour. The balloon three quarter length sleeves also add a great bit of detail, adding a bit of volume. It’s available now from Net A Porter.
If you’re on a budget though, this Floral Mac from ASOS is definitely value for money, at £54. Whilst it might be a bit more coat than jacket like, the lightweight cotton will keep you cool, and the mac is a key shape that’ll see you through to when the weather starts turning colder after summer again. the bustle back and tie details on the waist and sleeves make this mac look much more expensive than it is, and again, the floral print is key.
The shops are full of the joys of spring, so have a hunt around for the perfect spring cover up!

We are going to see a lot of Flora and Fauna this spring and I am already a huge fan of the trend. To get the trend right you want to keep the look ultra modern, whilst whimsical and old fashioned at the same time – not an easy brief.
To do this I would take a beautiful statement piece such as this exquisite floral sequined jacket by Diane von Furstenberg which has great whimsical granny appeal yet when teamed with super skinny jeans, towering heals and a clutch is given an instant ultra modern look.
For a seriously eye catching evening ensemble I would pop super toned and tanned legs (if I had them!) into the aforementioned Matthew Williamson coral shorts and team with this jacket – a knock-out summer party look with a fresh feel.
Get yours from Net-a-porter for £858.

A fantastic transitional piece to invest in right now is the navy boyfriend style blazer. With navy set to be a huge colour next season it is a perfect colour and article to get you through the current dreary weather as well as starting to build your S/S wardrobe.
Next season you will see navy being clashed with bright acid colours such as canary yellow and vivid coral. For now it’s the perfect piece to layer with and take you into the warmer months.
For play team with a white scoop neck tee, skinnies and sky high heels, downgrading to a simple white vest as the temperature rises and for work simply switch out the skinnies for a pencil skirt.
The Designer version is by Stella McCartney and available from Net-a-porter for £856.
The Highstreet version is from Topshop and can be snapped up for £55.

Stonewash denim is going to be a wardrobe staple this summer and apart from the all-important stonewash skinny jeans, you’d also be wise to pick yourself up a stonewash denim jacket.
Perfect for chucking over the top of anything from a vintage tee to a floral frock, a dirty denim jacket is perfect for keeping warm when the sun goes down as well as giving a flirty dress some edge.
I love this one from ASOS – cropped with short bracelet sleeves and an adjustable back tab – which are great for avoiding a bulky look which denim can be guilty of, it’s just £34.50 and can be bought here.

If you invested in a piece of mannish oversized tailoring during A/W 08 then you’ll have plenty of reason to get more wear out of it this S/S 09 as this will remain hot on the list of top trends this summer.
Coined ‘the Helmut Lang effect’ this trend will be all about oversized blazers, pops of shocking bright colours such as electric blue and satin cerise and simple elegant designs inspired by the early 1990s.
All you need to complete the look is a pair of draped loose tailored trousers and a sheer vest to wear underneath. Look to Richard Nicoll and Stella McCartney for inspiration for styling these looks, and pick yourself up an oversized blazer such as this one which I love, and you can buy up from Urban Outfitters in the sale for £29.99 (down from £55, bargain!).

I have two tactics when it comes to the sales, my first is to pick up classic items that I can wear anytime no matter what the fashion (such as a cashmere sweater, the perfect fitting crisp white shirt, any fabulous shoes etc).
This can prove very rewarding – the feeling of joy when you can add something totally perfect looking, functional and half price will never loose its allure!
My functional pick is this cashmere batwing sweater by Alexander McQueen. A classic that you could wear forever, this one can be picked up from Net-a-porter for £305.40 (down from £509).
However, my second, more frivolous approach is to snap up those items that you may never actually wear but will look great in your clothes collection and might one day be just the perfect thing you need.
Such items include say a vintage Victoria lace slip… too beautiful and ancient to wear, but having the opportunity you cast your eyes over it day after day makes it every bit as worthwhile as say finding the perfect ‘interview shirt’.
My potential frivolous purchase this season might just be this ostrich feather bolero (from humble old Topshop surprisingly!). Right now I have no where to wear it, no dress to match it, but one day I may discover the perfect glittering 20’s style flapper dress and it will be the perfect adornment.
If not, I shall forever gaze at it adoringly hanging in my closet and never regret a penny spent. And I certainly wouldn’t in this case as it’s marked down from £85 to just £40!
If you have any sales tactics you swear by, please feel free to share!

With two days to go there is still time to bag yourself some bargains from the ASOS sale before it’s too late. I really like this vibrant yellow plaid blazer by Beckerman.
Featuring all-over plaid checks and a contrast lining, this is a stand-out-form-the-crowd jacket and a great item to invest in. Although we may be about to see the back of the check trend for now; plaid, blazers and the preppy look are all key fashion trends that just keep coming back around again and again so there’ll most likely be lots more wear in it to be had in the future.
Another reason to invest is the price! – ASOS have slashed the price by more than half and you can pick this up now for £125 (down from £275).
