A Great Dress for the Sportswear Trend

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

M&S Silk DressSportswear will be a popular micro trend this summer and Elle Magazine has hailed this pure silk belted utility dress from M&S as one of their ‘most wanted’ items as it is so reminiscent of Stella McCartney’s sports inspired collection.

At £59 it makes the perfect investment piece for this trend and is a lot kinder on the pocket than the designer alternative!

Team with leggings or jeans for a laid back feel or with gladiator heels and a clutch for an edgy and sophisticated evening look.

You can pick it up over at M&S among their Limited Collection or online here.

Stella McCartney's Net A Porter Exclusive

Stella McCartney Net A Porter ExclusiveStella McCartney has been one of the most talked about names this season, with her new collections enchanting everyone in the fashion industry.

All this week on Net A Porter there’s been an exclusive capsule collection by Stella McCartney, accompanied by a film. The first two collections, ‘Magnolia Tree’ and ‘Poem’ are available now, with ‘Island’ and ‘Kite’s arriving today and tomorrow. ‘Magnolia Tree’ is a smart collection, with pieces perfect for work wear and evening wear, including a jumpsuit and a bustier dress. ‘Poem’ is more of a casual collection, with tailored trousers and shorts and cute wedges with a cloud print detail.

There are four key looks in each collection, and the items can be mixed and matched. All the items are in this season’s key colours of white, nude and honeydew.

If you fancy owning a piece of this exclusive collection then head over to Net A Porter now.

Designer v Highstreet: Tribal Sandals

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Tribal SandalsIf like me you are secretly eyeing up Louis Vuitton’s Spicy Sandals which are currently being strutted around in by the likes of Victoria Beckham, Madonna and Heidi Klum, then you may interested that River Island have come up with a very similar pair too!

If the designer option with it’s six stunning different styles is a little over your limit (they retail at Louis Vuitton for approximately $2200) then this highstreet version have come to the rescue and are priced at just £69 from River Island.

They are still not available on their website so keep your eyes peeled if you’re after a pair!

Tab Silk Dress

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Oscar de la Renta Silk Tab DressI have a case of serious ‘outfit envy’ when it comes to this dress – perfect for summer parties it oozes chic sophistication and beauty which is no surprise as it’s by Oscar de la Renta.

Made from 100% silk, it features little silk tabs which give this classic shaped dress a fun fresh twist.

The dress comes with a detachable black grosgrain belt which you tie in a bow at the back, but I prefer the way it has been styled for the catwalk – as in this image; with a patent black waist cincher, adding a shot of uptown glamour.

Available from Net-a-porter for £3000, it’s the perfect way to nail the monochrome trend in the most feminie and glamorous way.

The New Leggings

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Stella McCartney Sequin LeggingsLeggings are still very much a wardrobe staple, but we’ve come a long way since you could only buy them in plain black.

Net A Porter have got the latest looks for leggings, and they’re now becoming the centre of an outfit rather than just a change off tights.

These Stella McCartney Dégradé sequin leggings are perfect for turning a simple tunic dress into a great statement evening outfit. Dip-dye and sequins are two trends that’ve been seen a lot recently, and the nude colour spectrum matches in perfectly with the Spring colour palette.

The key is to team them with something very simple – stick to black, greys, or whites, and nothing with too much frill or detail, and of course, killer heels.

The Stella McCartney Dégradé sequin leggings cost £795 and are available at Net A Porter now.

Dot to dot

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

dot.jpgPolka dot is a style that will be taking over the trends all this season and next. The mini dots have been seen at Balenciaga and Ungaro. Some polka dots have also been seen in the form of sequins combining both the metallic and polka dot trend!

We found these fantastic tights from Jonathan Aston which are available in a beautiful indigo colour. These tights are available at tights please and they are not to be missed! The fantastically stretchy material means they are a great fit, and at only £7.99 are the ideal way to adapt the polka dot trend.

Get ready to fly away

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

butterfly.jpgTattoo tights have been seen on the front rows of the catwalks at New York Fashion week. These fantastic butterfly tights are from tights please.

These tights arrived on the site yesterday and have have been flying off the virtual shelves.

They look great worn with faded denim or super short floral dresses so you can see every last butterfly running from your lower thigh to the bottom of your foot!!

The All New LBD

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Christian Lacriox Asymetric Pleat DressI am loving the revival of the little black dress right now – I always envisaged the LBD to be a somewhat plain and boring. A wardrobe back up? – no more! The LBD has had quite a make over, and what with the gothic chic trend storming the catwalks and ruffles and lace taking over, the LBD is unrecognisable.

Take this little number by Christian Lacroix, featuring black silk organza, pleats, asymmetric design, cut outs, self-tie neck, contrast waistband, draped detailing and bubble skirt to name a few features, this is anything but plan and boring.

Team with knee high boots, opaques and a cuff to mirror the catwalk’s tough styling or just throw on your highest heels.

Get your Christian Lacroix Asymmetric pleat dress from Net-a-porter for £3190.
