Designer v Highstreet: Tribal Sandals

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Tribal SandalsIf like me you are secretly eyeing up Louis Vuitton’s Spicy Sandals which are currently being strutted around in by the likes of Victoria Beckham, Madonna and Heidi Klum, then you may interested that River Island have come up with a very similar pair too!

If the designer option with it’s six stunning different styles is a little over your limit (they retail at Louis Vuitton for approximately $2200) then this highstreet version have come to the rescue and are priced at just £69 from River Island.

They are still not available on their website so keep your eyes peeled if you’re after a pair!

Pretty Necklace

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

ASOS Lisa Galibardy Dove NecklaceWith nature being a top trend this season this is a great necklace to invest in and will go with just about anything.

It is by designer Lisa Galibardy, who only started out in jewellery design in 2002 and has no formal training which is pretty impressive given her success.

I love the necklace’s daintiness which combined with the oversized long length design makes it a really unusual piece (the length of the necklace is 37cm with a 10cm drop). The cut-out detailing also makes it really stand out against block colours.

You can pick up this necklace for £29 as well as more of her pieces over at ASOS.

Cute Cover-up

Monday, April 20th, 2009

River Island Cutout Cover-upLooking ahead to the summer, I’m already planning my potential beachwear and holiday wardrobe in the hope I’ll get to jet off somewhere hot.

The first thing on my wish-list is this cutwork cover up – great for throwing over a cocktail swimsuit by day, and would also look great as an evening cover up over a simple sundress when the sun goes down.

It also has potential for everyday wear too, layering over a lemon vest and stone wash skinnies offers an effortless chic look.

You can pick this item up from River Island for £24.99.

The Perfect Plimosle!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

ASOS White EspadrilleA great shoe for setting off your stone wash skinnies is a plain pair of white plimsoles and these espadrille canvas style shoes are perfect for this look.

Featuring a contrast woven rope sole they not only look cute but are also really lightweight, so no need to think twice when chucking yet another pair of shoes in your holiday suitcase or in your bucket bag just in case your gladiators bring to rub unbearably about town.

Also available in black, you can pick up a pair over at ASOS – and the best bit, they cost just £12!

Designer Look Clutch from Reiss

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Reiss Jasmine ClutchI absolutely adore this wrist clutch from Reiss, its modern shape and stunning detailing screams ‘designer’, yet at £69 is positively highstreet.

Perfect for topping off cocktail dresses and wedding outfits it features a snake skin style faceting and contrast satin lining for a luxe feel without the luxury price tag.

It is available in grey (a beautiful oyster shade) or mint (pictured, though seems more aqua in this picture to my eye).

Get yours from Reiss in store or online.

Limited Edition Re-worked Vintage Pieces

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Renewal Cap Sleeve DressRenewal are a label that create pieces on a limited edition basis that are made from vintage trims, buttons and discontinued/vintage textiles and I love what they come up with.

Check out Urban Outfitters for their work, such as this contrast cap sleeve dress. It features an empire line, contrast graphic print and block colour (a key trend this season) and girly peep hole button neck.

Wear with undone hair, flat plimsoles and minimal jewellery for a laid back weekend summer style.

You can pick this dress up from Urban Outfitters for £55.

Tab Silk Dress

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Oscar de la Renta Silk Tab DressI have a case of serious ‘outfit envy’ when it comes to this dress – perfect for summer parties it oozes chic sophistication and beauty which is no surprise as it’s by Oscar de la Renta.

Made from 100% silk, it features little silk tabs which give this classic shaped dress a fun fresh twist.

The dress comes with a detachable black grosgrain belt which you tie in a bow at the back, but I prefer the way it has been styled for the catwalk – as in this image; with a patent black waist cincher, adding a shot of uptown glamour.

Available from Net-a-porter for £3000, it’s the perfect way to nail the monochrome trend in the most feminie and glamorous way.

Cute Summer Skirt

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

River Island Bubble-SkirtI really like this sweet little baby blue bubble-skirt from River Island. Prefect for lazy summer days or quirking up with coloured tights for spring it’s a piece that can offer a lot of wear over the coming months.

I’m also a fan of the items River Island have suggested you team with this piece: just tuck in a simple lemon vest and throw on some plain white plimsoll style shoes for an easy going summer look.

Great for creating an hour-glass silhouette, these type of skirts sit on the narrowest part of the waist and is also very forgiving of pear shape figures.

Available for £24.99 from River Island, it’s a great reasonably priced piece.

The Oversized S/S 09 Shirt

Friday, April 17th, 2009

The Oversized Denim ShirtLast season saw the revival of the lumberjack shirt, and this season, the oversized denim shirt will be back on show.

A great versatile piece it can be worn with so many different things just think cowboys and southern belles to achieve the all-important western feel to this trend.

Team with a simple round neck tee, skinnies and flat gladiators for laid back weekend style, wear as a cover up on the beach or chuck over a pretty summer dress to keep the look informal.

You can grab this item from Topshop for £28.
