Sequin Vest

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Stella McCartney Sequin tankSequins, as we know, are set to remain as popular as ever next season, and I love this simple sequin-sprayed vest by Stella McCartney.

Covering another two separate trends – make-up tones and sheer materials, this is one trend ticking top!

Its simplicity and relaxed racer-back shape make it a great daywear item (not easy when dealing with sequins) as well as providing a lovely laid back look for eveningwear.

Team with stonewash skinnies, sky-high heels, a clutch and statement earrings for a relaxed evening look. Mix it up by throwing over a floral jacket to keep the look contemporary. Swap the clutch for an oversized weekend tote and throw over a cropped jacket for daytime chic.

You can pick this item up over at Net-a-porter for £425.

Great Summer Frock

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Thomas Maier Cross Wrap DressTomas Maier is a favourite designer of mine – not only is he the creative director of Bottega Veneta and once worked at Hermes, but he also has his own collection of which I’m a real fan.

Check out Net-a-porter for his beautiful cashmere pieces (think oversized jumpers and sumptuous ponchos).

However, one of my top pieces has to be this cross wrap dress.

I’d love to create a Burberry style ‘garden girls’ type look with this piece – adding taupe ribbed ankle socks and patent sculptural shoes and then a brocade hem length mac thrown over the top.

The dress features side slit pockets (I’m always a fan of a pocket!) and a detachable self-tie at the waist.

You can pick one up for £396.38 from Net-a-porter.

Fountain Dress

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Preen Line Fountain DressI also absolutely adore this jersey t-shirt dress from Preen Line. The blush make-up tone is bang on trend for this spring / summer and the ruffles and drop waist detailing nod tot eh ongoing ruffle trend and the 20’s influence also popular this summer.

The real gem in this frock is that it screams femininity yet it’s basically just a pull on t-shirt with added detailing.

For a New York look keep legs bare and team with killer heals and minimal jewellery – just an oversized cocktail ring will do.

Get yours for a rather reasonable (it is Preen after all) £215 from Net-a-porter.

Cute Nautical Dress

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Dahlia Nautical Style DressThe nautical trend is set to be a popular look again this summer and I love this button shoulder tie side stripe dress by Dahlia. Available from ASOS, it features really cute quirky little ties at the side of the dress, creating an empire line type shape and definition to the waist.

The vertical stripes with lengthen a boxy shape and the pleated mini skirt is really flattering to hips that one may prefer to keep hidden.

What’s more it features handy side pockets – always a bonus in a dress or skirt.

You can get yours for £54 from ASOS.

Spring Statement Jewellery

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

ASOS Spring Statement JewelleryStatement jewellery is still very much on the agenda for S/S 09, and the cuffs and bangles we saw through winter are here to stay.

This Carved Flowers Bangle from ASOS is perfect for completing any Spring look. Pale colours have been seen all over the catwalk, and the ivory colour of the bangle would match any honeydew or off white outfit. The detailed carving makes it look more like a one off vintage piece, and if you don’t tell, who’s going to know! It’s great for a statement piece, or layer it will other bangles and bracelets for a full on effect. It costs £7.75.

There’s also a great Carved Stone Ring to go with it if you want to completely accessorise with this statement theme. It costs £9.

So don’t throw away all of your last season jewellery yet, it might come in handy!

Get ready to fly away

butterfly.jpgTattoo tights have been seen on the front rows of the catwalks at New York Fashion week. These fantastic butterfly tights are from tights please.

These tights arrived on the site yesterday and have have been flying off the virtual shelves.

They look great worn with faded denim or super short floral dresses so you can see every last butterfly running from your lower thigh to the bottom of your foot!!

80s With A Twist

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

80s Print TeesThe 80s revival is most definitely in full swing, and the easiest way to get on board with this trend is a retro print tee. If, however, you’re a bit bored of seeing tees emblazoned with Debbie Harry or AC/DC then there’s a couple of slightly more unique ones that’ll make you stand out and have a quirky take on the trend.

First up is this Prince When Doves Cry shirt – made more interesting by the fact it actually says Prince on it – not The Artist Formaly Known As, or that wierd scribble he used for a while. The acid wash effect on the shirt is also bang on trend, and the grey colour will match pretty much anything. It costs £32 and is available from Urban Outfitters.

If you want to channel one of the ulitmate 80s icons, then try this Grace Jones Tank from Topshop, featuring the iconic lady herself. This oversized vest can be worn with anything – but would look great with some wet-look leggings and high heels for a night out. It costs £18.

There are loads of other great 80s graphic tees out now, so keep your eyes peeled!

Karen Millen Chord Embroidered Blouse

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Karen Millen BlouseKaren Millen’s spring summer collection is full of gorgeous styles and looks but one of my favourites is this coral colour silk satin blouse.

The satin corsages nod to the floral trend without being too literal, and the pin tucked sleeves and high neck keep the sheer fabric looking chic and feminine.

This is a great transitional piece – can be worn with a cardy whilst the weather is still cool and will take you right through spring and into most of summer until it gets too hot (I wish!)

It will set you back £99 so it’s a little pricey for a blouse, but it is beautiful.

Cute Horse Belt

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Topshop Horse BeltOn the subject of horse themes (as noted earlier this week) I love this skinny gold horse belt from Topshop.

Gold will be popular for all accessories this summer and with the S/S 09 Nature trend storming our shops so will all kinds of animals and creatures including the humble horse.

This type of accessory is great for embracing the trend – it hits all the right notes as well as being perfect for all the waist cinching that will continue to be a key feature this summer too.

You can get yours from Topshop for £22.

The Square Dress

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Plain Green Square DressI’m a real fan of Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania Label and this green plain square dress is one of my current top favourites. I think green is such an underrated colour – it sets off all hair tones and skin tones and what’s more is set to be a hot colour this summer.

The draping and gathering on this dress really accentuates the figure and creates a fabulous forties silhouette whilst the use of buttons and bows keep the look fresh and unique.

Team with bright clashing coloured accessories for a classic S/S 09 vibe or keep it understated and prim with neutral shades for a classic look.

You can pick this dress up from my-wardrobe for £270.
