Bargain Alert at All Saints!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

All Saints Top PicksIf like me, you’ve been eyeing up all that All Saints have to offer this season, then it may be worth paying one of their stores a visit or having a little peruse online, as until 30th November (Sunday) they are offering 20% selected items!

My top picks are these three gorgeous items:

Firstly, you can pick up a great leather item such as this fringed gillet, which is perfect for so many trends this season. Ordinarily £350 you can pick this up for just £280 if you pick it up before the end of the week!

Secondly you could invest in some great denim. These indigo low rise skinnies feature zip fastenings at the hem to follow for a skinnier fit. Normally £55, these can be nabbed for £44.

Lastly a great trench is a must-have for any wardrobe and I love this double breasted draped version. It features concealed flap pockets and is waterproof and is a classic item that will last and last. You’d usually have to pay £250 but for this limited time can snap it up for £200.

My Top Four Festive Bow Accessories

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Top Four Festive Bow AccesoriesAs we all know this season is all about ribbons and bows and the colour red and here are my top picks for the popular and very festive red bow accessories that are popular right now!

Firstly, following Luella’s A/W 08 maypole inspired collection, they created these gorgeous ribbon bow hair clips which people have been going crazy for. At £45 they are an investment but are seriously cute and would make a great gift.

Next, is this darling little bow detail bangle watch by Betsey Johnson. The concealed clock face detail is fabulous and you can pick one up from ASOS for £75.

At £165 the Miu Miu patent bow purse is the most expensive item, but in my opinion the cutest! The small zip around purse features a bow on the front and a zip fastening for holding coins as well as a stud fastening compartment for notes and cards. I love the patent red finish and think this little purse would be great for nights out, you can pick yours up from Net-a-porter.

Last but by no means least, is this great little bawhaus acrylic bow bangle from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Made from papaya plastic this is a great little bangle from a great label. You can pick one up from Net-a-porter for £60.

A Dress for Every Party!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

DressesIf you’re a bit unlucky like me and you’re birthday falls near Christmas, you might currently be experiencing ‘dress panic’, like I am. With so many social occasions in such a short space of time, wearing the same dress for more than one of them is out of the question. Therefore I need an extensive dress wardrobe that’ll still leave me with some change left over for buying Christmas presents.

So here’s a selection of great party dresses that will have you looking the belle of the ball without being a Christmas Scrooge!

First up on the left is a Satin Puff Dress from Topshop, which is currently reduced from £65 to only £40. Purple is the ultimate colour to be seen in, and looks great with staple silver accessories. The pintuck detail nips you in at the waist to create a great silhouettes, and being a strapless dress means you can add a sprinkling of glitter to your shoulders for a shimmery detail.

Next, in the middle is a Scoop Neck Bugle Bead Tunic Limited Collection dress from Marks and Spencer, which currently has 20% off the £49.50 price tag. The lovely peacock colour is great for this season’s jewel trend, and the simple but flattering cut will suit most body shapes, especially you skinny petites.

And finally, every dress collection needs one, the old faithful LBD. I’ve opted for this ASOS Zip Back Shift Dress, that costs £38. The classic shift shape should see you through many a season, as it can be easily adapted with a belt and transformed with accessories. Whilst prom dresses and lace look great now, will you still want to be pulling it out the wardrobe next year? Simple and uncomplicated, this dress speaks for itself, and is perfect for unexpected wardrobes and slipping on when nothing else works.

Keep your eye out for bargains, and get ready to hit those parties!

Christmas Lounge Wear

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Figleaves Kishi Supersoft CardiganChristmas for me, is a time to indulge in some serious nesting; from long hours spent under a blanket reading, to lazy afternoons watching Christmas movies, or simply just snuggling up with hot chocolate and home-baked treats whilst catching up with family and friends, I love to nest.

One thing that is an absolute must for these activities (apart from the aforementioned hot chocolate and blankets) are soft comfy clothes. I may on occasion pull on a velour tracksuit (there, I’ve said it) but when lounging in company I like to look half decent, especially during the holidays when unexpected visitors could tap the door at any moment.

So, around about now I tend to update my lounge wear with cosy comfortable items I won’t mind being seen in and that look cute too. One item I am considering investing in is this Kishi supersoft cardy from Figleaves. This wrap comes in grey marl or cream shades, and is knitted in a soft angora mixed yarn and features a wide rib finish. Perfect for draping over just about anything this is perfect nesting wear! You can pick one up from Figleaves for £45.

Cute Party Frock

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Elizabeth and James Ruffle Mini DressI think this ruffle mini dress by Elizabeth and James is simply gorgeous. Perfect for the festivities, it features a snow cotton blend and contrasting asymmetrical one shoulder strap with ruffle detailing.

The pleated panels give this dress great movement for the dance floor and the gathered material is great for concealing any Christmas over indulgencies around the middle are. What’s more the ruffle feature and contrast colour will bring the attention to your upper half as well.

Team as the Olsen twins would themselves with tough items such a slim-fit sculpted leather bomber and towering chunky leather heels.

This dress is available from Net-a-porter for £360.

Winter Warmer

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

ASOS Long Intarsia CardiganNow the cold snap has well and truly hit, it’s chunky knits and long sleeves from here on in. This ASOS Long Inarsia Cardigan is definitely a winter warmer, with a cute snowflake design that’s perfect for Christmas. The neutral cream and black colours and long length means it can be worn with jeans or leggings, and any colours. The belted waist can be tied at the back for an open look, or tie it at the front to keep out the winter chill.

This cardigan ties in with the boyfriend cardi trend we’ve seen on the high street, and although it looks like it’s made of wool, it’s actually acrylic so it won’t leave fluff all over your favourite black skinnies.

At only £35, this is a good price for a piece that’ll keep you warm and cosy for the next few months, and you can pick it up from ASOS now.

The Signature Corset Top

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

D&G Corset TopI love Dolce and Gabbana, and would love to indulge in a little something from their collection, and I was rather surprised to come across this little item on Net-a-porter this week. For just £175 you can nab yourself this signature D&G corset top.

What I love about this item is that for me, it sums up D&G. The lace panelled trim and exposed zip at the back are both details that make this item of the moment. However, the sensual tailoring and sexy undertones are very typical of D&G’s designs. Madonna is a big fan (once having them design most to her costumes for one of her tours) and this is absolutely something you could have seen her wear back in the day.

Perfect for teaming with skin tight jeans, a tux jacket and towering heels, this is bang on trend yet will never date. If you wish to pick yourself up a slice of D&G, head over to Net-a-porter today.

Primark Party Piece

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Primark Party PieceIf you are looking for a bargain statement dress then look no further than this little number from Primark. You can can nab yourself this exposed zip tulip dress for just £14!

Wear, as styled in the image, with concealed lace up platforms and opaque tights for an on trend look (both items are available from Primark also, at £12 and £2 respectively (that’s just £28 for the whole outfit!))

The exposed zip and tulip shape are on trend and edgy making this a great little bargain for anyone wanting a young, fresh and punk-esque look!

The Square Dress

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Vivienne Westwood Square DressI love Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania label (a diffusion line). The pieces are designed for everyday and are great for adding a bit of her iconic style to your closet at a more realistic price. Take this square dress – the draped tailoring is stunning and very reminiscent of the gorgeous Vivienne Westwood navy pin strip suit that Carrie wore in Sex and The City to her lunch with boss at Vogue.

Perfect for day or night this is a great one piece for work – just team with super high heels and for night just add glossy statement accessories. As this is a very soft and feminine piece you could add tough studded accessories to keep the look on trend for this season.

Features include a detachable self tie waist belt, buttons to fasten the neck and a cowl neckline. This is available fro £270 from Net-a-Porter today.

Elizabeth and James Slim-Fit Pants

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Elizabeth and James Slim-Fit PantsNet-a-porter have just taken stock of another batch of Elizabeth and James clothes and among them are these stunning slim-fit pants. The double breasted button detailing give them an equestrian feel and the deep set pockets make them practical too.

For simplicity keep the look long and steam-lined by teaming with sky high heels and a white round neck vest tucked in. Do make with a Victoriana or heritage feel, but just be sure not to take the look too literally. A cropped riding jacket for example may be a bit much, however, a crisp white high neck ruffle shirt could work nicely.

You can pick a pair up from Net-a-porter for £215!
