Following the recent Sex and the City movie, Patricia Field has ensured that the humble waist cincher will continue to be one of our staple wardrobe items again next season. I am a real fan of them as in the blink of an eye a silhouette can become the perfect hourglass, and next season, where there will be a lot of layering their presence becomes all the more necessary.

Grunge is back (don’t think of Grunge in the sense of the early 90s, instead think casual layering mixed in with a bit of glitz) and a great way of avoiding layering becoming to bulky and ungainly is firstly, keep the material of your bottom most layers quite thin, and secondly, throw on a waist cincher to keep the look stream-lined.

The good news is gone are the ruffled deep set elastic style cinchers with their 80’s front clasps and in has stormed leather chunky upgrades like this offering from Linea Pelle. At £130 for a belt it’s an investment piece, but it will go with everything from daytime to eveningwear and I think, worth every penny.
