H&M: 'Fashion against AIDS' Collection!

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Rhianna for H&MH&M have produced a ‘Fashion against AIDS’ collection that includes a range of organic cotton tank tops, hoodies, t shirts etc featuring a unique print that has been designed by a specially chosen artist/designer. Good Charlotte, Rhianna, Katherine Hamnett, Jade Jagger and Timbaland are just some of the stars that are behind the project.

This is a great way to raise awareness of AIDS particularly to young people whilst raising money for the cause; 25% of the sales proceeds are donated, through DAA and YouthAIDS to help prevent the spreading of the disease worldwide.

The t shirts are £9.99, the one shown here is Rhianna’s t shirt design; it’s funky, fresh and is for a good cause! It’s great to see fashion retailers and stars combining to create collections for a good cause rather than for lining their own pockets! Well done H&M!

Topshop Catwalk Show

My colleagues and I visited Topshop in Oxford Street on Wednesday for an afternoon of cocktails, canapes and a catwalk show. The show brought together latest fashions and styles at Topshop with vibrant colours and some very interesting ensembles!

Topshop Catwalk Show

One of the main themes running through the show was long cream socks with either mustard or cherry pink coloured shoes. I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of the trend but all the girls were sporting the new style.

Lace up platform boots were also a dominant feature of the show, they looked extremely hard to walk in and I don’t fancy wearing them myself but they certainly look striking if you want to make a statement.

Ruffles, flower prints and stripes were also key trends on the catwalk, ruffled flowery skirts were frequent and everyone in the store was trying them on afterwards in the changing room!

This season is a chance to get some colour back into the world, so dress up your black leggings or trousers with pinks, yellows, electric blues and eccentric print designs.

Richard Nicoll for Topshop!

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Richard Nicoll Shirt DressTopshop is once again boasting an impressive list of top designer lines within its Boutique; Christopher Kane, Marios Shwab and Richard Nicoll are the latest to design for Topshop with some interesting outcomes.

My personal favourite is the Richard Nicoll collection. I love the feminine look without looking too pretty and Nicoll achieves this combination to a tee with his Topshop collection! With ruffles being a main feature, Nicoll has made simple garments look fresh and chic. I love this shirt dress; its very cute, peep toe shoes and knee length socks would look fab with this item. The only downfall is the price; £70! Ouch!

Designer V Highstreet: Butterfly Necklaces!

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Butterfly NecklacesNature is a massive print and colour inspiration this summer with designers such as Stella Mc Cartney and Balenciaga both adopting beautiful floral prints in vibrant hues to celebrate Mother Earth. This recognition of our fragile planet also comes at a time when environmental concerns and the move towards eco-friendly living is becoming increasingly apparent.

The butterfly is proving to be extremely popular particularly amongst jewellery designers who recognise its beautiful pendant potential. Butterfly necklaces; designer and highstreet are popping up everywhere this season and here are two of my favourites!

This stunning Kenneth Jay Lane Gold butterfly necklace to the left is by a designer that is renowned for his glamorous jewellery collections. This gold plated necklace has a striking butterfly pendant that will look fab during the day with a floaty white kaftan or a pretty day dress. For £55, this necklace can be purchased from Net-a-porter.

If you’re on more of a budget check out Miss Selfridge’s Butterfly and Dragonfly accessory collection. This purple dragonfly necklace is fun and flirty and for £8 you can’t go wrong!
