Feeling Blue?

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Blue Trend from H&MI certainly am! How gorgeous is this fab new colour! I am definitely going to be investing in this gorgeous shade of blue to brighten up my wardrobe. These three vibrant combinations are all from H&M; they have provided so many options in this colourway that there is sure to be something for everyone! I personally love the silky blouse dress (middle.) Blouses are so in at the moment and this dress really reflects the blouse trend! The frilly detail and puff sleeves are so cute and will look great with some high heel brogues and thick tights!

If you’re more of a trouser person the outfit on the right maybe more suited to you, or maybe go for the little fitted blazer; perfect for complimenting a pair of denim jeans. There are just so many options!

Cool Tie Dye!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

River Island Tie Dye BomberTie dye is definitely a hot new trend for spring, we’ve seen it on the catwalks and now our favourite high street stores are embracing the look! Fantastic collections all celebrating the striking tie dye effect are hard to ignore!

River Island is the latest store to catch onto the trend with this fantastic tie dye bomber jacket! I was immediately drawn to the colours of this jacket; from light turquoise to deep midnight blue this jacket is sure to compliment any pair of denim jeans! Bomber jackets are also a key look for the spring, perfect for taking us from the cold winter through to a milder spring. However don’t rush, it’s still freezing outside and buying prematurely may result in you missing on some other great spring buys!

If you just can’t help yourself this jacket can be purchased from River Island online for £44.99!

H&M goes Tribal!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

H&M Tribal Beaded DressIt’s my favourite time of year! Spring fashions are entering our highstreet stores and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the summer.

With lots of new trends on the way including striking florals, tie dye and a new style of tailoring it’s a fresh new look for spring; just what we need!

H&M; my favourite budget highstreet store is already unveiling their new spring collection and its looking good! Tribal is a very prominent trend within the collection with tie dye and bold African inspired prints dominating the look. This is a fantastically striking look, with earthy colours carrying the trend. I particularly love this dress from the collection, the bleach effect and beaded embellishments are really unique and look fab! Loving the turban head scarf and huge earrings, they really set off the look! Not sure I could carry them off though!

Fabulous Gina Shoes

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Gina SandalsI love the Christmas and January sales, because no matter what happens, I always find at least one garment or pair of shoes I adore and this year was no exception.

These Black Gina Spice Sandals are gorgeous! With sky high heels they lengthen legs and give extra height when on an evening out (perfect if you’re petite). The black patent and bead effect is unique and would look uber-stylish with a knee length black dress or black knee length skirt and slinky, silk top combo. Begin your 2008 by spoiling yourself after all, you’re worth it!

Get your pair at Kurt Geiger down from a whopping £415, to £249. Now that’s what I call a discount!

Ethical Fashion: Butcher Couture!

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Butcher Couture Knit DressWith sustainability being a huge concern across the globe, it is refreshing to see new fashion labels that are aware and acting upon these new pressures to provide fashion with a conscious.

One label I have found that is particularly passionate about sustainability is ‘Butcher Couture’. ‘Butcher Couture’ was launched in October 2007 by Babou Olengha, it is an interesting label aimed at modern men and women from 25 to 45 years.

They have expressed their concerns for sustainability; “we are committed to producing all our garments to organic standards using only wherever possible certified organic materials and processes as well as natural and eco-friendly alternatives.”

This picture shows an example of their work, it is a one off creation hand knitted by Jemma Skyes; Knitwear textile graduate. I think this piece is pretty amazing and the fact that it has been produced ethically makes it even better! Keep up the good work ‘Butcher Couture!’

Celebration of Mother Nature!

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Spring 2008Spring 2008 brings the celebration of nature with floral being a huge print of the season. Floral prints bursting with colour and energy filled the spring/summer 2008 runways, a refreshing contrast to the greys and blacks that have dominated our wardrobes this winter.

Spurred on by the growing concern for our environment and the need for a more ethical fashion industry, designers such as Stella Mc Cartney, Balenciaga and Missoni have all taken influence from Mother Nature to celebrate all things green! Beautiful florals enlarged and placed strategically on flowing maxi dresses and smock tops was Missoni’s unique approach to the print whereas Stella Mc Cartney created a sexy, laid back feel with cute mini floral prints covering sheer all in ones!

However Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga got my vote for the most adventurous; bold floral prints covered sports car inspired garments. Sculptured hips and shoulders created unusual style jackets and dresses that completely contrasted to the natural floral print that embellished the garments. If this wasn’t enough to finish the look Ghesquiere chose knee-high woven gladiator boots; talk about making a fashion statement! Misplaced Something?

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Marc Jacobs Misplaced Heel ShoeAlways misplacing things; your keys, phone, favourite lippy? Well don’t worry even Marc Jacobs is doing it! Yes Marc Jacob’s new footwear collection features a shoe with a misplaced heel; the heel has been attached in an unusual place that doesn’t look particularly practical or safe, but who cares its fashion!

I wonder if this shoe was at first a production mistake and then one weird and wacky day they thought; ‘hey these might actually work, people might actually be crazy enough to wear these!’ Who knows, I just know they’re pretty weird and I’m not sure if I would be able to walk in them!

So if you’re forever misplacing things don’t worry it is apparently fashionable!
