Flapper DressesTop designers have gone ‘Flappin Mad’! Twenties fashions have been revived with the infectious ‘Flapper style’ that is roaring down the runways! Fall 2007 has already seen many fantastic Flapper dresses from the likes of Burberry, Giles and Balmain and with spring on the way we can expect more ‘Flapper Fever’!

If you’re not sure about the Flapper trend, fear not as I have chosen three of my favourite ‘Flapper’ dresses to tantalise your taste buds!

Look out for 'The Row'!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

The Row Clothing Line‘The Row’ is the brand new clothing line produced by the Olsen twins; yes they’ve finally brought out their very own clothing line, which is of no surprise to us fashionista’s!

Never failing to look anything less than uber trendy, the girls are finally willing to share their style with the world!

If you have been hiding under a rock and don’t know who these girls are, let me try to jog your memory; they both have hugely successful acting careers and found fame at a very young age, they have been in many films such as ‘It Takes Two’ and ‘Charlies Angels:Full Throttle.’

Anyways back to Fashion, these girls unlike some celebrity turn fashion designers have worked extremely hard on this collection. Ashley has spent three years on just achieving the perfect T-shirt design! (I would love to see that T shirt!). The whole collection is very simple and understated it is more focussed on the fit of garments with some beautiful; tailored and knit wear pieces. You can find out more about Mary Kate and Ashley from the New York fashion site.

‘The Row’ can be seen and purchased from Harvey Nicholls, London.

Pleated to Perfection!

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Pleated dresses by Alberta Ferretti and Stella Mc’CartneyMy latest obsession is pleats! I have to say I have an extremely weak spot for all things pleated this season and it seems like the top designers do too; Burberry, Pringle, Givenchy, Stella Mc’Cartney and Alberta Ferretti have all put their own mark on the pleat technique and the result is ‘Pleated to Perfection’!

Alberta Ferretti hasn’t failed to overwhelm me with his stunning take on pleats with this simply divine grey strapless chiffon dress (left). Pleated in a unique spiral design with the use of the very ‘now’ ombre dyeing technique, this dress has absolutely no flaws.

Stella Mc’Cartney has also inspired me with her very sophisticated silk silk pleated halter dress (right), slightly more low key and subtle but equally as desirable. Both dresses can be purchased from Net-a-porter.

From Cable knit welly’s to warm knitted pumps, the world is going ‘knit crazy’ this winter! You can just about get anything covered in a chunky woolly knit fabric; even bangles are getting a cable knit makeover!

For the low down on chunky knits and where to get the best knitted accessories from, this article from Life and Style magazine is all you need!

The 'Cloud' Trend!

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Zac Posen Spring 08 CollectionWinter has only just arrived and I’m already wishing on Summer, this maybe down to the freezing cold weather or it could be due to all the stunning new collections and trends I have been viewing on Style.com, knowing me its probably the latter!

One trend I found particularly interesting was the ‘Cloud’ trend that Zac Posen fully embraced with a selection of five dresses from his Spring 08 RTW collection. Long and short silky evening gowns with huge poufy sections in wispy whites and blues floated down the runway, areas of these gowns are absolutely stunning; I particularly love the dyeing techniques that create stunningly beautiful mottled effects of subtle hues. I also love the contrast of tight fitting areas with the huge voluminous sections; very striking!

However looking on the practical side for the average woman walking down the street looking like a big poufy cloud isn’t going to be particularly flattering, so maybe this is one trend that is best kept on the runway!

Isharaya Jewellery!

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Moon Bali EarringsNet a Porter has yet again introduced us to a hot new talent; the jewellery line Isharya. This interesting new line was founded by San Francisco-based Radhika Tandor and sister in law Gauri Tandon. They’re heavily influenced by India and base their collections on the traditional jewellery of the Royal Indian families. This is very apparent in their designs that are stunningly exotic and ornate.

I’ve always been in awe of the Indian culture and their beautiful crafts and this collection truly reflects the beauty of this inspiring culture. To give you a quick glimpse of the collection as I know you are all dying to see what i’m talking about; here is a pair of Isharya Moon Bali earrings delicately embellished with small turquoise beads and pearls. These earrings would make the perfect gift, for £85 make someone happy this Christmas (even if it’s yourself!)

Plaid Trend!

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

PlaidYou may have noticed Plaid has made a huge comeback this autumn, if you don’t already know what Plaid is; it is a cross-hatched dyeing pattern often used for wool clothing, to put it simply Plaid is the Tartan pattern will all know and love, particularly those that are born and bred Scottish.

This season designers have shown much love towards the tartan pattern and have proved that it isn’t just for kilts and the Scottish! With highstreet chain stores such as H&M and Mango adopting the plaid pattern in more subtle hues they have made it more wearable and urban.

Life and Style magazine have latched onto this fab new trend and have produced a whole article on plaid including the best plaid garments and accessories around at the moment, 3 top tips on how to wear this pattern and some great examples of how the stars have adopted this look! Everything you need to know before you get your plaid makeover!

Shoulder Grazing Earrings

Accessorize EarringsA big trend right now is big dangly earrings, and I’m a massive fan of this look, but it’s more vintage inspired gems than big gold hoops! Rihanna, Hayden and Peaches Geldoff have all been spotted wearing them, mainly with hair tied back to give a full on glamour effect.

As always Accessorize have got more than a few to chose from, as well as Freedom at Topshop and Mikey. Perfect for your Christmas work do coming up, or if money’s a little on the tight side why not add some to your Christmas list.

The earrings shown here are from a collection at Accessorize for £12, Check out their site there’s too many to chose from.
