Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Ralph Lauren Charity PoloRalph Lauren and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer have teamed up to create an exclusive, limited edition polo shirt with the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer logo. The Ralph Lauren emblem can be spotted in the bottom corner of the polo shirt instead of the usual spot on the left chest. The shirt comes in an assortment of different colours such as, white, sky blue, lime green, red and yellow and is on sale for £55.

Ralph Lauren has a history of fighting against cancer and supporting the charity, their Pink Pony Fund is a great example of how they do this and now the fashion council of America has got involved.

Designer V Highstreet: Retro shoes

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

MarniI always hate to see the end of summer as it means the end of all those beautiful vibrant, refreshing colours and the return of blacks browns and greys! Its not that I really hate these winter colours its just that they can get a bit boring and bland.

Well that was until I found these great new shoes that add a shock of colour to your wardrobe and instantly funk up your feet! I love the fact that footwear is getting more and more adventurous this Fall and these shoes certainly reflect that!

Nine West ShoesThe first pair is from Marni who mixes three contrasting colours to create this great funky retro look. These shoes are gorgeous and the platform heel is perfect for those who want to add a bit of length to their legs. They do come at a price though; £290! So start saving girls!

Or don’t and opt for a cheaper but just as funky version from Ninewest for $89, that’s under £50! Take your pick!

'The Golden Age'

Monday, September 17th, 2007

The Golden AgeAnyone who loves couture and wants to find out more about an era that saw the rise of the couture houses into the huge global brands we know and love today; I’ve got the perfect exhibition for you!

Victoria and Albert museum, London is the venue for this fantastic new exhibition. It starts on the 22nd of September and finishes on the 6th January so theres no excuses, you’ve got plenty of time to plan a visit!

The exhibition is called ‘The Golden Age of Couture’ and looks at an important decade in fashion from 1947-57 which saw the launch of Christian Dior’s New Look. It was the start of a new era, the war was finally over and dress making was at its finest. In Paris, couture houses flourished whilst London grew many exquisite tailors such as Hardy Ameis. The exhibition shows how important couture was to the fragile economies of France and Britain after the war. I think this exhibition will be really interesting, I can’t wait to see all the stunning gowns from the likes of Balenciaga, Dior and Givenchy!

Christian Louboutin Jaws Platform Pumps

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Christian Louboutin Jaws Platform PumpsTrendy designer Christian Louboutin has really set the style with these Jaws Platform Pumps. In my eyes they are perfect, nothing could improve the design except maybe the £430 price tag that comes with them! The contrasting nude and black really forces the zigzag edging to stand out and the patent tie bow at the front and patent covered heel adds that little bit more glamour to the design.

I love the way Net-a-porter have dressed the model with a high waisted pencil skirt and plain nude colour top; simple colours should be worn with this design so the shoes are the main focus of the outfit, after all… you want to show these beauties off.

Faith Ivory CourtsOK so £430 is a little overboard for many of us so why not pick a similar high street style like these leather peep-toes from Faith. The ankle strap adds a sophisticated edge to the design and at £50 they are much more affordable. Again these shoes would look fab with a black pencil skirt and white shirt – great for the office or for a drink with friends. Unfortunately the Christian Louboutin Jaws platform pumps will have to remain on my wish list but these Faith Ivory Courts can be more of a reality!

Topshop: Unique

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Topshop UniqueI recently went on a shopping spree in London and couldn’t resist having a peek at Topshops flagship store in Oxford circus. There was Kate Moss mania as she has just released her new Fall 07 collection, which is set to be a huge hit of course. However it was Unique that really grabbed my attention as they have just released this fantastic new range of accessories that really are ‘unique!’.

The belts look like some sort of armour; they are big statement pieces that are sure to make a big impression! When I first saw the belts I must admit I wasn’t too keen but sure enough after the initial shock I actually began to like them!

Unique NecklaceThere is also this fab metal disk necklace that will look really great with a big chunky knit cardi in the day or in the evening why not wear it to jazz up that little black dress! The belts are £35-£40, whilst the necklace is a reasonable £18.

Herve Leger's 'Bandage' Dress

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Herve LegerHerve Leger introduced the ‘bandage’ dress to the fashion world; this style of dress celebrates the female form by smoothing and shaping the female silhouette to create a glamorous and seductive look.

River Island Bandage DressThe Leger label was at his best in the 1980’s, however fall 2007 sees the return of the label and I can’t wait to see his new collection! Leger definitely designs for the more confident woman who loves her curves and is not afraid of flaunting them. So if you fit into this category be sure to check out his collection at Net a Porter and check out the Herve Leger Bandage dress.

If you love the ‘bandage’ dress look but can’t quite stretch to the designer price tag, I’ve spotted a cheeky bargain that might interest you from River Island! For £29.99 this metallic grey dress could be yours! Good hey?!

Designer V Highstreet: Knits

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Chloe KnitwearWe all love our chunky knits to keep us warm and cosy through those cold winter months so this week I have been searching the hottest new trends for knitwear and it seems that cable knits are set to dominate the winter fashion scene. With designers such as Chloe and Stella McCartney leading the way with their beautiful chunky cable knit jumpers and cardigans it’s hard to resist the cable knit trend!

FCUK KnitwearGrey seems to be the ‘IN’ colour for knits, whether it’s dark grey or smoky grey, it’s a great alternative to black and will give a classy yet casual look! Here I have searched for the best knits of the moment, the first option is for those designer chicks; a light grey hooded cable knit cardi from Chloe, this cardi is lush! I love the toggle fastenings and the oversized hood to shield you from those cold winter days. To add this Chloe Hooded cable knit cardigan to your designer wardrobe it will cost you £675 from Net a Porter.

If you’re more of a high street honey I have the perfect alternative, this cardi is from French Connection, I think it will look great with little shorts and some bold coloured tights! It also looks super cosy for £120!

Ankle Breakers

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

ASOS Patent WedgesWe thought wedges were just for summer but they have popped up in many autumn/winter collections and now they are even bigger. So prepare yourself to be wobbling down the street, trying to keep your balance. Mary-Kate Olsen and Sienna Miller are just two of many celebs sporting the latest wedges. This pair is a cork wedge in the style of Peaches Geldof; they are black patent with a t-bar to the ankle strap which is fastened by a buckle.

They have punched hole detail around the shoe and a small peep toe. Many different shapes, sizes, colours and prices are on the market at the moment; you can pick up a pair for as little as £15. These also come in white and are available from ASOS.com for £25.

The Dirt!

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Topshop DirtFirst there were dresses, then there were skirts, now everyone is wearing Dirts; a dress come skirt! A total bargain if you ask me as you get two outfits in one. Now, there are two ways to wear a dirt, the fold down… pretty self explanatory, fold the top bit down to hip height and cover with a top or vest. Then there’s the Bandeau belt, if worn as a dress add a belt under the bust or if worn as a skirt add a belt around the waist.

You need to make sure your dirt is elasticated at the top as it will be doing a lot of stretching. If you’re a taller girl you would suit a longer length fold down and for the shorter girl get a short dirt to show off a bit of leg. Go for one with a bit of colour and a simple top, or stick to black and just add accessories. This one is available from Topshop for £30.

Designer V Highstreet: Blouses and High Waistlines

Mulberry Silk BlouseHigh waisted trousers and pencil skirts over stylish white blouses are an absolute must fashion trend this season. I have to admit when wearing clothes like this to work I often get warm and stuffy but with the colder weather approaching there’s no excuse not to wear this fabulous style. This Mulberry Silk button front blouse is the perfect item to wear under those high waisted bottoms, it is made from silk and has small gold buttons at the front for extra detail. The tapered cuffs and tie around the neck give the blouse that little bit more interest and it would be great for both work and social events.

Paired with trousers similar to these you can’t go wrong and add a splash of colour as shown in the picture with a bright bag or bright shoes. I love red at the moment, it’s definitely hot but wear it sparsely so your outfit isn’t overpowered. The silk shirt costs £295 and is available at Net-a-porter.

If Mulberry is a little bit out of your price range then check out these other brands I have found on the web. Firstly we have a puff sleeve blouse by Oasis on the Littlewoods Direct Website (left) and secondly a Limited Collection short sleeve ruffle neck blouse from Marks & Spencer. The blouse from Oasis costs £39 and again looks great paired with high waisted grey trousers. This blouse would also look fab with lower waisted trousers and a colourful high waisted belt (I’m thinking red again!).

Oasis Puff Sleeve Blouse and M&S Ruffle Neck Blouse

Ri2K Valentino Shoulder BagThe ruffle neck blouse over at M&S is very sophisticated and teams up well with the black pencil skirt. The blouse costs £29.50 and could also be worn to work or out on the town. As Net-a-porter have proven in the top picture, this style looks great with a bright coloured bag.

This Ri2K Valentino Shoulder Bag at John Lewis is one of my favourites, at £85 it’s not the cheapest bag on the high street, but it does have a certain elegance and class that would team up well with the styles above.
