‘The Golden Age’

The Golden AgeAnyone who loves couture and wants to find out more about an era that saw the rise of the couture houses into the huge global brands we know and love today; I’ve got the perfect exhibition for you!

Victoria and Albert museum, London is the venue for this fantastic new exhibition. It starts on the 22nd of September and finishes on the 6th January so theres no excuses, you’ve got plenty of time to plan a visit!

The exhibition is called ‘The Golden Age of Couture’ and looks at an important decade in fashion from 1947-57 which saw the launch of Christian Dior’s New Look. It was the start of a new era, the war was finally over and dress making was at its finest. In Paris, couture houses flourished whilst London grew many exquisite tailors such as Hardy Ameis. The exhibition shows how important couture was to the fragile economies of France and Britain after the war. I think this exhibition will be really interesting, I can’t wait to see all the stunning gowns from the likes of Balenciaga, Dior and Givenchy!
