Designer V Highstreet: Blouses and High Waistlines

Mulberry Silk BlouseHigh waisted trousers and pencil skirts over stylish white blouses are an absolute must fashion trend this season. I have to admit when wearing clothes like this to work I often get warm and stuffy but with the colder weather approaching there’s no excuse not to wear this fabulous style. This Mulberry Silk button front blouse is the perfect item to wear under those high waisted bottoms, it is made from silk and has small gold buttons at the front for extra detail. The tapered cuffs and tie around the neck give the blouse that little bit more interest and it would be great for both work and social events.

Paired with trousers similar to these you can’t go wrong and add a splash of colour as shown in the picture with a bright bag or bright shoes. I love red at the moment, it’s definitely hot but wear it sparsely so your outfit isn’t overpowered. The silk shirt costs £295 and is available at Net-a-porter.

If Mulberry is a little bit out of your price range then check out these other brands I have found on the web. Firstly we have a puff sleeve blouse by Oasis on the Littlewoods Direct Website (left) and secondly a Limited Collection short sleeve ruffle neck blouse from Marks & Spencer. The blouse from Oasis costs £39 and again looks great paired with high waisted grey trousers. This blouse would also look fab with lower waisted trousers and a colourful high waisted belt (I’m thinking red again!).

Oasis Puff Sleeve Blouse and M&S Ruffle Neck Blouse

Ri2K Valentino Shoulder BagThe ruffle neck blouse over at M&S is very sophisticated and teams up well with the black pencil skirt. The blouse costs £29.50 and could also be worn to work or out on the town. As Net-a-porter have proven in the top picture, this style looks great with a bright coloured bag.

This Ri2K Valentino Shoulder Bag at John Lewis is one of my favourites, at £85 it’s not the cheapest bag on the high street, but it does have a certain elegance and class that would team up well with the styles above.
