Statement Coat!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Burberry Patent CoatIf you want to make a statement this winter, have I got the perfect garment for you! This fantastic Burberry Prorsum coat is definitely a head turner! We all know that patent is a huge trend this season and Burberry have definitely picked up on this key look, using it in much of their fall collection.

I love the patent look but am always wary about wearing too much so tend to stick to patent accessories rather than whole garments but if your after a statement coat this definitely fits the bill!

Another prominent trend that they have hit perfectly on is the quilted look. As you can see on parts of this jacket there is a quilted effect that gives added texture and interest. I like the fact that they haven’t gone mad with this quilting effect as too much could end up looking more tacky than chic. This coat is £2,750.00 and can be purchased from Net-a-porter.

Must Have Roll Necks!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

H&M Roll NeckOk your probably thinking, how boring a plain roll neck top, but mark my words this ‘boring’ roll neck will be your best investment this winter! It is such an essential garment this season especially with the strong focus on layering; you won’t know what to do without one!

The beauty of these tops is that you can still wear pretty dresses during the day without freezing or looking too dressy, just wear one of these great little roll neck tops underneath your dress and it instantly tones it down, genius! I am definitely going to be stocking up on plenty of these tops from H&M this winter, for just £10, I think I’ll get one in every colour! However if your not sure I would definitely recommend the grey colour as it is very in this season and suits pretty much everyone! Oh and if you like the sweater too, its £14.99! Bargain!

Kate Moss Dress

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Kate Moss Poppy DressI’m always a bit of a sucker for Kate Moss’s range in Topshop and this season is no exception! I have already found my dream dress that can be worn with tights, leggings and skinny jeans, you can also wear long sleeves tops underneath, don’t be afraid of layering this winter!

The main attraction of this dress is definitely the beautiful print, I think the colours work really well together and will compliment both blondes and brunettes! There are two styles of dresses that come in this print; the one shown here is £60, whilst the alternative has long sleeves and is more of a smock shape and costs slightly more at £110!

Designer V Highstreet: The Geo Dress!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Warehouse Geo Dress Apparently deco insprired print is the new floral this fall, with bold geometric shapes taking over the runway it is now time to invest in your very own geo garment!

Geometric prints are not only on the catwalk, they can be seen on the highstreet too, which is great if your watching your pennies like me! There are no rules as to what fabric or garment can carry off this print, from knitwear to delicate dresses, anything goes!

I have found two great examples for you, the first cheap and cheerful option is from Warehouse, its £55 and will look great with bare legs for a night on the town or with black tights for the day!

The second delicious option is by Emilio Pucci and can be purchased at Browns for £1,200! This dress is gorgeous I can see it with huge patent platform heels, yum!

Monsoon's Mirror Studded Bag WOW Bag

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Monsoon Mirror Studded BagWhenever I’m shopping for a new handbag I always try to steer clear of black because I have so many black bags, but when you walk into a shop and you cant help but say “wow”, what am I supposed to do? This mirror studded bag is an exception – it is just fab! I think it has a real retro/rock look about it.

It is embroidered and is embellished with silver decoration. It has a zip fastening at the top and pockets at either end and inside is a pocket for your mobile phone. The fabric that has been used is silk and velvet. This must have costs £40 from Accessorize. They have even got a matching mirror studded purse for£6. Get them both from Monsoon.

Step back to the 40's

Friday, September 28th, 2007

FCUK Mustard JacketIn this weeks edition of Take 5’s magazine the centre page had been dedicated to The Top 20 High Street Buys and Chic Bargains and this mustard bow neck coat is number one. With its high neck and oversized bow it really gives it that chic 1940’s look.

It is a felt jacket with ballooned sleeves and is a loose fit. It is made from wool, nylon and cashmere and the colour is described as olive. Inspired by the 40’s era it’s not something I would hit the high street for, but it certainly would inject a bit of colour into everyone’s wardrobe. Available from French Connection and costs £140. I personally think it is horrible, I’m not sure if it is just the colour that puts me off but I wont be purchasing one. Maybe it’s a bit like marmite, if you like it you can get one online here.

Grey is the Way

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Miss Selfridge Grey CardiThis gorgeous grey cardigan is no longer considered part of the “back to school” look. Grey is not associated with being dull or boring, it is now worn to add style and sophistication to your image. Graphite and slate shades of grey are all over the high street and what better way to wear them than knitwear.

Don’t go for a too chunky knit though, as you may just end up making yourself look older. This pointelle sleeve detail cardi has a deep V neckline and has a button detail at the bottom. It has fitted sleeves to give a bit of puff at the shoulders and is fitted at the waistline to emphasize a curvy figure. Available from Miss Selfridge for just £35.

Brighten Up a Rainy Day

Friday, September 28th, 2007

TOPSHOP Red MacAnother style that is going to be big news this season is the wet look, and what better way to embrace the trend than go all out with this blood red mac. Why not take full advantage? What a gorgeous rain coat? I love it! It has three quarter length sleeves, not too practical for the rain but who’s to say you have to just wear it in the rain.

It has a patent look and is fully lined. The buckle belt around the waist gives you a great waistline and emphasizes all the right curves. I know it’s only a coat but you still want to be able to see that you have a figure! You don’t want to be walking round looking as though you have put a bin bag on. Who says you can’t look good in the rain. Available from Topshop for £80.

Masculine Brogue Shoes

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Brogue ShoesThis eighties classic is neither a shoe nor a boot, but it is certainly the business. These shoes are this season’s must have. Made with polished metallic leather, they tick all the trend boxes. They feature classic punched brogue pattern and are described as a lace up shoe. They remind me of a masculine shoe which is exactly what I think the designer; Jane Shilton was going for, masculinity with a feminine touch.

These traditional round toe shoes have an 80mm high Forsyth heel and with metallics being a big thing this season, im sure they will sell like hot cakes. Not really my cup of tea, but they are nice. Add a touch of tom-boy chic to your wardrobe with these from the Autumn/winter collection at Available for £79.99.

The Little Black Bag

Monday, September 24th, 2007

I’ve urgently been trying to find a perfect elegant and petite black bag for those special occasions that come with a dress code. Ideally it needs to be smart, sassy and able to match any dress and black satin peep toe courts and I have yet to be successful, but after a tip off I browsed the Accessorize website.

Monsoon Black Bags

There are hundreds of adorable bags and clutches available for any occasion, dressed up with beads and sequins or simply plain and perfect!

The Organza Lace One Handle Bag (left) is cute and has a lovely lace broach attached costing £25. Alternatively the middle bag is just as cute; a Black Crystal Bow Clutch costing £35. Or you could go for something simple and plain which won’t hurt your bank account like Long Simple Satin Flap Over bag priced at just £8.
